  • This NV La Bota de Palo Cortado 51 Bota GF is a single cask that was bottled in February 2014 averaging some 75 years of age in a solera system. Only 1,200 half bottles were filled with the content of one single cask. Medium brown color. Ultra intense and complex aromas of olives, anchovies, yeast, dark caramel, nuts, leather, smoke. Wine is agressive with very high acidity, taste of salt, olives, old cognac. Very, very long. Interesting expierence.

  • This stuff is unbelievable! It's the Islay whisky of sherries. Brine and olives and seawater and cedar and barrels and yeast and grappa on the nose, salty, tangy, sultana impressions on the palate. The finish lasts forever. Taken on its own, it may be a bit much. With the right food, strong dry cheese, or a nice onion and bacon flammkuchen, it's heaven.

  • Wanna try sherry for the first time? Don’t start here. This is an extreme wine and certainly no pleaser.

Brownish w. orange hue. Intense bouquet, full-bodied and with some sharp "edges" full of shoyu, salt, nuts, old cheese and finished by yeast and lightly roasted coffee and smoke.

Dry and high acidity, very oxidized but without a greasy feeling (which I sometimes get with oxidized wines) and very full-bodied with pronounced alcohol and whisky. Extremely salty, soy sauce, burnt nuts. Very meagre structure and yet so full. Wild!

  • 50-70 year old Palo Cortado with traits from both Amontillado and Oloroso. Bought it some months ago just to find out that the bottle had been opened before. Well, then I had to taste it…

This is a crazy wine! Deep amber/mahogany color in the glass. Very complex on the nose with walnut skin, leather, smoke, salt, caramel, burnt wood, bitter orange, and fermented butter. The palate is equally complex with notes of brown sugar, sea breeze, oysters, and old cognac - almost exploding on the tongue with a surprisingly significant acidity. Long, long, long finish. Small sips are necessary here. Highly recommended!

  • JB at Fernando's House: "only" 60+ years old. Carmel, acetone, almost like newly painted room. high acid. Flor notes take over the middle with orange peel and almonds. bright, lively version of a deeply complex wine. incredible.
