  • Showing well considering the vintage. Nicely balanced, lovely nose, clear, dense fruit, with a notch or two too much oak.

  • A bottle I bought only recently. Dark brick-ish colour, orange towards the rim. Very evolved. Some sweet, dried fruit, dried cherry, damson plum, intense rose petal, some caramel, herbs, lovage, spices, glycerin and balsamic notes, with good length. The tannin is only partly resolved and still has some dryness and grip, but is integrated well. The alcohol (14% ABV) comes through a little, adding to the impression of sweetness. Broad and more evolved, earthy and tertiary than a 22-year-old Barolo should be, but fairly balanced. Kind of grew on me even if I could not enjoy drinking more than two glasses without food because of its lack of freshness. Even sweeter, but also more harmonious with food on day two. Does not win a price for elegance, but … Drink now, pair with food.

  • Burnt light reddish orange with fine sediment mixed into the wine. The fine sediment adheres to the glass when twirled. Nose initially concerned me as it was a bit rancid; however, that dissipated within 10 minutes. Taste was a great upside surprise. A lot of complexity with nice tannic structure. Leather, wood, fruit in the upper palate...the wine tasted much younger than my expectation. Long finish. For a modestly priced Barolo after nearly 20 years, this is a gem.

  • Drank last nite at Piero's with Whites and Goldsteins. Popped and poured. This wine is showing its age! Orange/brown rim. Nose shows floral notes, along with red fruit and some sherry aromas. Still some fruit, but this wine is dominated by tertiary notes--very earthy, with mushrooms, dirt and leather and tobacco. Still good but you have to like these old wines to appreciate it where it is today. I enjoyed it, tho lesser palates won't appreciate this wine at this age.

  • Notes from memory. Decanted 1.5 hours. Dark with suspended sediment, orange rim. Tertiary notes on bouquet with floral and dark cherry scents coming through. Palate is high toned but deep dark fruit end of spectrum, with this wine showing more poise with time.

A good deal of complexity and balance here, leather, cigar leaf, dark cherry and wood taking turns across the palate. Tannins are fine but surprisingly still very much to the fore here - not overpowering but very much a part of the wine. Hits that deft balance of power and finesse - this is a big bodied, deep wine that still paints a very delicate line across the palate.

  • Blind tasting with some friends. #7 Very enticing bouquet, but with additional aeration it became quite evident that this bottle was flawed. The palate brought final enlightenment. Such a waste.

Blindverkostung. #7 Eine sehr verheißungsvolle Nase, aber letztendlich mit zunehmender Belüftung leider mit Korkschleicher. Am Gaumen dann klarer erkennbar.

  • Medium-deep to deep ruby red in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Forward, fragrant, attractive & complex nose of still developing ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, plums & berries with floral notes of roses, some cedar, earthy, dried herbs, dusty, leather, some tar with hints of toasty oak in the background. Full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced, still developing yet smooth, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, sweet plums & blueberries with earthy, spices, herbs, minerals and some tar. Long lingering finish. The tannins have softened considerably but it still has the fruit, depth & structure to develop even further with additional 3-5 years of additional aging.

  • Decanted about 90 mons. Serious black cherry secondary flavors. Rich vibrant and spicy. Medium tannins and acidity. Delicious. Drank with a dry aged prime ribey. Still years to go.

  • Nose of violet, cedar, Bertie's, roses. Fantastic wine. Medium body, medium tannins and perfectly balanced medium high acidity. Classic nose , pale rim, and slightly bricked color. Decanted 90 minutes before drinking. Slight bit if the funk, must of older Barolo. Delicious! This wine is still big and bright. Cooked red fruit flavors. Yum. Another two years at least.

  • Very concentrated nose of coffee, menthol, prunes, and even a little heat enveloping ripe dark cherries; with some air the woody notes start to overpower everything on the nose; very tannic from the moment this hits your lips and carrying a lot of oak; very dark fruit on the palate but completely overshadowed by oak and grippy, rustic tannins; the oak and heat predominate, and it is actually difficult to taste much else. While this is quite dense, it is hard to determine where the fruit is and whether the oak and tannin will ever fade enough to find anything lurking underneath. One can only hope that this is not a representative bottle.

  • Dekanterade redan på eftermiddagen, 6 timmar luftning i karaffen. Färgen är Rubinröd med orange kant. Kraftig komplex doft med chokladtoner. Blir bara bättre och bättre ju mer man doftar. Fortfarande rätt kraftiga tanniner och låång eftersmak

  • On the nose, red fruits fade into undergrowth and tar. The palate showed strawberry with cinnamon, rose petal and a hint of honey. However, the finish closed down with rough tannin.

  • dense and extracted, very modern in style. Drank well but could have had a bit more freshness

  • From memory. Popped and poured. Some time in the glass before drinking. While not exceptional, good indeed. Garnet color. Good nose of a modern Barolo, Nebbiolo first but oak also in evidence. In the mouth, not tired at all, a sort of sweetness in good balance with a right amount of acidity and tannins. Fruit is still there. Maybe a little too modern for my taste, but in its category a good performance. Good now, but no hurry to drink.

  • An extremely concentrated Barolo that still needs time to really open up. Decanted for two hours. The color is a dark ruby that turns orange on the rim. Strawberries, cherries, rose petals, leather, smoke, melons, mushrooms. Still somewhat tannic.
