Good the first day. Dropped off quite a bit the second. Same experience I had the last time I opened a bottle of this wine in 18. Rating is for first day.

Definitely WA cab - funky nose - did not decant long but was still quite enjoyable - longer decant would have been even better. Many, many years left on this wine.

Only 200 cases produced. Made by Chris Gorman. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Decanted. Low Sediment in bottle. Deep opaque garnet with plum hues. The nose shows the evolution of this wine. Scents of rubbed herbs, tobacco, black tea, cedar, earth, black pepper and coffee coat the scents of brambly blackberry, plum, fig and cassis. The palate is full and bold revealing firm yet fine tannins, juicy berry acidity, high alcohol and smooth velvety textures. Herbaceous flavors show notes of rubbed thyme, sage, and tobacco with black pepper spice, coffee, cassis, brambly blackberry, fig, black plum, earth, black tea and cedar. The toasty finish lingers highlighting the impressive structure of the wine.

Rich, delicious black cherry fruit with tar and dark chocolate flavors, excellent structure, very focused dense core, viscous, ample finish, great wine

Name: 2012 Force Majeure Vineyards Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard Collaboration Series V Cabernet Sauvignon _________________ My Rating: 97 _________________ Price: $40 from @winebid, best available now $97.99 online __________________ Pours dark purple. Most amazing nose I’ve ever had the opportunity to smell - kirsch, licorice, leather, and earth all mesmerizing. This amazing mix of red fruit, leather, and tannins continues on the palate. This wine literally dances across your tongue with new world fruit, but a real depth of earth, leather and herbs that seem more old world in character. Wine of the year so far for me. Am definitely going to be on the lookout for more. ———————— #newworldwine #winebid #winetasting #dcwine #wine #winesofinstagram #instawine #redwine #winelover #redmountainwine #2012vintage #winewithfriends #winewithfamily #cielducheval #forcemajeur

Still young and little tight, but opens up with time in the glass. Notes of dark berries, lavender, licorice and dried herbs. Nice texture and balance.

Well constructed bottle of Washington juice. Tempted to score it higher since it is a very satisfying drink, but...... Dark ink red/black in the glass, fragrant but indistinct nose, full feel in your mouth. This wine is ready to drink but no need to be in a hurry. Though the look and smell pass with good marks, all we could taste was hottness of the high alcohol (14.9). Maybe if we had let the bottle sit for a couple of hours that might have burned off a bit. My wife detected a sweetness (which she described as bubblegum), and naturally once she put that thought in my head, I did as well. Though I have been a buyer of many of the most awarded WA State wineries, I continue to find most WA Cab/Bordeaux blends have slight or indistinct taste characteristics. By comparison, you can pick up a WA Syrah and often read the geographic characteristics vintage after vintage. That comment is might unnecessarily provocative and reflective of too small a sample size, but I would say that it is more or less true of Corliss, Quilceda, Mark Ryan, Betz, Rotie, Avennia and others. Fine bottles, but not enough discernable terroir when compared to similarly priced and aged reds for Italy, France, Spain and even parts of California.

Leaves and leather opens up to plums and currants. Finishes with a bit of acid and earth.

Great version of a WA Cab, right amount of funky earth that is a favorite.

Big and juicy, like a buxom teenager wearing tights.
Just like a teenager, lacks maturity, fruit is ripe, but needs some dust.
