As my notes of March 2022 and 2023. Drinking well after a couple of hours to open. As before, the high extraction was evident. The fruit was a little less sweet but still very attractive. The balance was good and it was excellent with roast fillet of beef. It was still improving 5h after opening - it still has life ahead (if stored well).

Decanted 30 minutes prior to drinking. Ate with croque monsieur (smoked ham, bread, mustard, cheese). Very dark almost black colour. Fragrance of cherries, dark fruit (blackberries, cassis), but also chokolate, coffe, and toffe/vanilla. Smoke. Taste of oakbarrels, dark cherries, and even stronger coffe. Also smoke continues. Medium to long aftertaste. Full body. You can feel both Malbec and Cabernet. But also some Italian hints (cherries). Drink now.

When first opened, it showed an attractive, rich nose with plenty of dark fruit and some spice. It was drinking well from the off with black and red fruits on the palate. Tannins were evident but soft-ish 5 hours later, it was softer, better - rich and complex. My wife enjoyed it and identified it (blind) as [mainly] Malbec from Argentina. I liked it but found the fruit slightly less ‘sweet’ than I remembered. Still rich, complex, and long. However, after 24h, the wine was very good indeed. The fruit seemed darker and sweeter - rich damson flavours with spice and enough soft tannin to accompany food very well. It has a few years ahead. I have added a point.

Two and a half years since my last bottle, and I can only repeat what I said last time: it was worth the wait. It is open, balanced and relaxed, and a very pleasing wine for my dinner guests. Big extraction, but with balance. Decanted and served over three nights, it was best on night three. That is in itself a very strong endorsement for a wine produced in great volume for quasi-mass distribution. Very dark color with bright edges, red and blue fruit, with some floral and spice notes, very good acid levels, integrated tannins. Many more good years ahead of it. It is hard to convince people to age a $17 wine, but young Siete just doesn't please me; it should be drunk from 6-15 years after harvest. Exvellent QPR.

20 minute decant (significant sediment). Nice Malbec that paired well with grilled striploin steak. Robust full fruit flavours with integrated tannins. Some subtle secondary elements with some spice on the finish. After 2 days in the fridge it was enjoyable but had gone a bit downhill. Probably time to drink up. Good value.

Opened 4 hours early, as always with this wine. The same deep colour, fragrance, spice with the signature complex dark fruit (mainly black cherry and blueberry) on the 'sweet', soft palate. Soft, fully integrated tannins. Long, complex and well balanced. Very good with a beef sirloin joint. As ever, the wine repays cellaring and usually comes round beautifully after around a decade. We have kept our 2012s for a while but they are certainly ready now. Opened early. 4-6 Hours later It showed a very deep colour and a fragrant, spicy nose. Lots of dark fruit (mainly black cherry and blueberry) on the 'sweet', soft palate. Integrated tannins - soft enough to drink on its own but enough to partner food, too. Long and complex with good balance. Very enjoyable now. 90+ Very good with a beef bourguignon. It improved further with time, indeed it was excellent next day. Good fruit and balance, especially with food, when the damson-skin tannins were softer.

My first bottle in exactly three years, this was worth the wait, as it is a more open and relaxed wine now, showing a beautiful, very dark color with bright edges; lovely red and blue fruit fragrances, with some floral and spice notes; well-integrated, silky, nice acid levels, noticeable but integrated tannins. Another Siete winner, I think that it is still two years from peak drinking window and with many more years of life ahead. In terms of rating, it is up five points from when I drank it in 2016, and it really does seem to have more to give in the next few years. Even better on night two.

A little hard and unyielding on day one and two, it had finally softened on day 3. Still very dark colour and good legs. Attractive Blueberry fruit and plenty of tannin. I think this has a few years left in it but not sure how well the fruit will hold against the tannin.

Bought Le Clerc's supermarket, Flers, France approx 12.00 euros, Oct 2017. 25% cheaper than UK. Served around 20c. Not decanted. Argentinian 100% Melbec but made on-site by Frenchman flying - I wanna rule the world - winemaker Michel Rolland.
C.....dense, no fading on rim at all.
N....wood, alcohol! 14.5% !! nice red fruits, not a huge nose.
T.....a bit grippy, feels younger than actually is. Tight. Nowhere near mature at this time (2017), floury tannins after 20 mins, earthy hints. Probably mature in 2024? Lacks complexity at moment - my bottle of 2014 was much better wine, oddly more 'forward' - but still a lovely core of fruit.
VFM?.....I've scored it 91 but only 'on potential.' At 12.00 euros it is a bargain. To be cellared till at least 2022.

Decanted for ca one hour. Subtle nose of ripe dark fruit and minerals. Medium to full bodied, supple with firm and smooth tannins, delivering decent tart dark fruit with a bit of licorice and heat on the finish. Gentle dusty bite on the finish. A quaffable, well made and polished wine that is lacking a bit in character.

Very expressive nose of oak, mushroom, milk, chocolate, dark berries. Somewhere in between CARO and The Relic. High in alcohol. Dark purplish garnet. Medium plus body, closer to full. Palate doesn’t really back up the excellent nose, but still silky, slightly floral, probably 70% of the nose. Medium finish with a bit of bitterness. Better than expected. Needs some decanting, but should be no longer than half an hour, so better to pop and enjoy. 90~91/100 *** Next day the lactic richness has almost faded into some weak dark bitter berries. Now it's 88+/100.

Malbec dominated Bordeaux blend. Light fruit nose , with dirt and wood. It's not as bad as it sounds. It's actually pretty nice. Soft entry which is followed by firm, but short lived tannins, and just a momentary glimpse of sour cherry acidity. It all gives way to a long lingering earthy finish. I liked it! Great value again!

(bought at a discount): deep ruby in color, ripe red fruit on the nose (blackberry & plum), black pepper, subtle spices and some complexity. Powerful yet elegant, with smooth tannins & medium to low acidity. Liked this one better than the 2011.

On open this has rich dark chocolate and some muted sweetness, and as it progresses blueberries and oak come together to form a well rounded enjoyable Malbec blend. A good entry example of the character of the contributing vineyards in the clos de los siete, but the individual vineyard malbecs (particularly monteviejo) are extraordinary.

This bottle was much better than I expected given the combination of Mendoza and Michel Rolland. Full/medium bodied with a hint of sweetness on entry but savoury and leather tinged notes rapidly took over the round dark fruit. There were peppery touches, decent acidity and backbone with none of the expected signs of exaggerated oak treatment. Chinese take-away is a difficult pairing for most reds which it managed effectively and which may have enhanced the acid balance and diminished the impression of sweetness. Good but I need to try it again with a more austere pairing to confirm my impression.

Good price point but too much for me. Ridiculous oak, way too sweet, overly extracted, and hot. Literally turned undrinkable by day 2. Inexpensive Argentine wine manufactured to taste like high scoring Napa cab.

Popped and poured. Nose of blackberry, currant, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Black fruit, unsweetened chocolate, roast coffee and oaky tannins on the palate. Leads to a smooth, lingering finish. Full bodied. Paired with grilled tuna.

I've been a loyal Siete drinker for over a decade, and buy several cases each year for family because of its great QPR at $15. This 2012 does have me worried, however, because the oak overwhelms the wine, and there is a slightly green flavor as well. Let's see how it develops, but this is not a good first bottle for the case I have.

The jury is still out for this wine. With one sip, I think its a 90 point wine and another sip, closer to 84.
I was sipping this after work without food. Very dark color; floral, chemical, tobacco aromas; slightly bitter and tannic with green, tobacco, earth, and dark berry flavors. Its textured, rich, and full but its just not working for me right now. Better with food?

Given that this Malbec-dominant blend is made by Michel Rolland and a group of French interests in Argentina, it's hardly surprising that it's an Argentinian wine with a distinctly French feel. The Malbec is certainly front and center, as this is lush and approachable, dense and sweet, with lovely dark fruit, mostly blackberry, blueberry, and prune. But the intrigue comes from the other 43% -- 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 2% Petit Verdot -- and especially from the non-Bordeaux Syrah, with meaty and mildly spicy notes adding a savoury element to the mix and nicely complementing the Bordelais fruit. Well-structured and with a creamy texture and vibrant acidity, there's a lot to like here. It's a bit too lean and bitter on the palate, and the length could be better, but this is elegant Malbec, to be sure.

Too tight at this stage; plums and cherries, spices and some oak influence both on nose and palate. Considering the dark inky purply colour, it's medium bodied and slightly short on the finish. Needs time to come together.

Deep ruby colour. Very expressive developing notes displaying aromas of very ripe black fruit such as dark plums, dark cherries and blackberries, spicy oak with notes of clove and cedar and hints of bottle ageing such as truffles and blue flowers like lavender.
It is dry in the mouth with a medium(-) acidity. It has fine-grained tannins and a high warm alcohol. It is full-bodied with a pronounced fruit concentration and a long finish.
It is a very good quality wine. It has a lingering finish and a lot of concentration that balance the alcohol and tannins. However it lack some typicity, it is made in a very "international style".
Can drink now, but it has enough tannic structure and fruit concentration to continue developing some tertiary aromas over the next 2-3 years.

Inky ruby color. Jammy smelling dark berries, mocha, with secondary licorice. A fruitbomb it is, with blueberries and plums, chocolate covered cherries, and dark roast. Nice balance of acidity and silky oak. I have not had this since the 2003 and it has improved immensely. An ambitious Malbec blend!

Glass staining purple color. Powerful, somewhat stewed dark fruit aromas of blackberry, mulberry, and blueberry, plus sweet, toasted oak aromas of cinnamon and pie crust. A bit of leather, but otherwise entirely primary. Goes way off the rails on the palate. The fruit is completely dried out and drowned in bitter woody oak flavor and texture. The tannins seem entirely oak derived and are green and hard, and a hot kick of alcohol comes along for the ride and dominates the finish.
It's been a while since I've had a wine like this. I wanted to give Argentina another chance, and I have nothing against Michel Rolland per se, but this bottle fulfills every negative generalization people make about his wines. Overripe, overextracted, overoaked, overalcoholic, unbalanced, anonymous, and commercial. Highway robbery for the price---so much good wine out there for ~$20.

Solid Malbec (57%) blend with 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 2% Petit Verdot
Smooth with flavors of blueberry, blackberry and some spice. Solid daily drinker with a nice QPR.
Have been buying these for years and seldom disappointed - good value for the money.

Excellent Malbec. It had a rare dimension of grape taste that I liked and immediately went to buy 3 more bottles. Distinctive and pleasant aroma. Full bodied yet smooth and balanced, quite impressive.

Full body and deep red color, smooth balance of tannins and acidity. With rich bouquet and flavors, yet not overpowering, it paired well with red meats and pungent cheeses.

ótimo vinho, mas ainda está duro, precisa de algum tempo de garrafa ou talvez mais tempo respirando.

Definitely a great value wine every vintage. But I found this one just a little one-dimensional. Lots of time left in the bottle. May cellar a few and see what happens.

Dusty plum nose. Mouth coating damson fruit, good intensity. Tannins are certainly present but not aggressive and there's a lovely sournesss on the persistent finish.
