Medium ruby Earthy nose, mushrooms, forest floor , wet grass Cherry, raspberries, big bold flavor, smooth and luxurious black pepper, currant, hints of mint This is a complex wine with high acidity, well integrated yet firm tannins, dry and truly delightful.

A brooding savory nose with iron, meat and dark fruits. Structured and with the ripeness of '11 held together beautifully. Full bodied and powerful. Long and impressive if not charming. This is not a warm and fuzzy wine, serious and youthfully firm. 95

Too young, certainly. Decanted 30 minutes thereabouts. Some alcohol showing on the nose (the vintage is speaking), slowly leaves for a much more elegant wine with tar, red berries, herbs, tannin, classic barolo,m unmanipulated. Give this time. #FormelB#Lolli&Co

2011, Barolo ‚Cerretta‘, Giacomo Conterno, Serralunga d’Alba, Piemont, Italien. Helles Rubin.

Agree very much with LWI (same tasting). My first Cerretta by Conterno. Floral, rosegarden. Red berries with cherries, high concentration. Tannins are dominant, although never unpleasant. Primary. 91P. Warm vintage and alcohol is high (15%). I ll wait another decade for the next bottle and would not be surprised to see this wine reach 95-96p.

Tight nose, too dark to assess visual quality of the wine. Some tar and tea leaves, a hint of red fruit. Big on the palate with coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, plum, herbs, med body med- acid, long finish. Great with food.

A look into some 2011 Barolos (My place, Chicago IL): Nose: On pop and pour, the nose was tight and unyielding. But, with more and more air it grew and fleshed out into red cherries, strawberries, roses, tar, raspberries, herbs, and some spice notes. The nose greatly favors the red spectrum with excellent depth as well.
Taste: Full bodied with high acidity and gripping tannins. The structure is fairly oppressive, but, beneath it lies red cherries, strawberries, roses, tar, and raspberries.
Overall: Once this started to open up, it started to show what it has. There is a larger quality to it, but with a pronounced red fruited base.

Sneak Peak of 2011 Barolo (Chez Keith): Initially the aromas are fragrant but kind of simple with youthful, bright red fruits, florals and some spice. After an hour in the glass, another layer of aromas appears with more 'baritone' plum, black cherry, earth and tar. In the mouth this had medium body and generous acidity (one of the higher acid levels I observed in the horizontal). The finish really lingers and flashes a range of flavors. Lots of upside from here. Pop n pour with ~1 hour of slow ox.

2011 Barolo peek (Chicago, IL): (Pop and pour.) Very pretty nose with very sweet and bright cherry notes and just a slight touch of earth. The palate is very sweet and is showing an incredible amount of fruit right now, and all of it sweet. There's a touch of fresh roses on the palate as well, though that is definitely very, very muted in comparison to the exuberant and sweet fruit. The acidity here does seem a little bit muted, and I can only hope that with time it expresses itself more loudly. At this early point in time, this is obviously not too expressive besides the copious amounts of baby fat. The tannins do seem a bit soft for such a young Barolo, and I'm going to guess that this ends up closer to a medium-term wine. With a few hours of air, this definitely picked up a lot of heft, losing a lot of the high-tone notes. The tannins became a touch more abrasive, and some darker aromas started to emerge. (One day later.) This got even better: darker and more depth. The cherries have darkened into some rich plum notes, and there's pronounced earthiness on the nose and palate now. The tannins are not as forgiving as they were yesterday, they definitely show a lot more than yesterday. There's so much more gravitas from the cherry bright red fruit of yesterday. Incredibly profound and powerful. I've ticked this up a further notch in score.

UN GIOVEDI IN LANGA: Tasting at the domaine.

The nose showed masses of dark red fruit, dusty spice, mushroom, savory herbs, soil and undergrowth. On the palate, it was youthfully taut yet showed a core of intense tart, dark fruit with hints of cedar and mineral tones coating the senses. Tannin clenched the palate throughout the finish, yet it was unbelievably long on dried fruits and savory spice. This wine is so young and full of potential, even with the forwardness of the 2011 vintage; it stands as a powerful and structured Cerretta. Give it a decade or two in the cellar.

Expressive and quite floral with generous red cherry. Racy with bright acidity, medium bodied, not showing the vintage's heat. Very good.

Blind. Red and dark fruit. High acid, tannin much there, tight -- but elegant, fine graded. Evolves with additional air.
