Dark, manly, spicy. The most rustic wine of the 2013-DRC-lineup - and most evolved, showing hints of sous bois.Plenty of tannin here, wait for it. Softens in the glass ... #DRC#Scheelsminde.93++

Always a great wine despite the vintage, red fruit, and those roses that are a signature of the domaine, nice energy and power for the vintage, superb balance with such a classy and silky texture. Gorgeous and so,good.

Kept changing over five hours, but ultimately came together in beautiful harmony. Very pretty spice, high toned fruit. Lighter on the palate, but excellent flavor and detail.

Always a great wine despite the vintage, rose signature of the domaine, nice energy and power for the vintage, yet with such a classy and silky texture. Gorgeous and still a baby.

Pop and pour half a glass to follow its development then decanted the rest. Definitely needed a half-hour of air to get past reticent tart apple, then continued to improve over two hours. Dense and precise without any heaviness just as you'd expect from a top Burgundy. Unobtrusive minerality increased during the long finish and it was all seamless. I think this is my first DRC. Clearly a well-made wine, probably designed to age more before consumption but enjoyable now.

A private dinner (Restaurant d'Oude Schuur, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium): Bottle No. 03494 from 8,878 bottles produced. Spectacular nose, black fruit, orange zest and a touch of salt, lifted and pure, lovely oak; elegant and slender palate, cool style, paper-fine tannins, slightly vegetal, very fragrant but lacks a bit of ripeness and weight; good but not exceptional length. Extra point for the nose.

Tasting Of three DRC Wines (Sofitel The Grand in Amsterdam): Consistent notes from this bottle and a bottle that I had last year. A powerful nose of black fruit mixed with hints of brown spice. The palate is well balanced and structured with generous black fruit and earth, followed by some finely grained tannins on the long complex finish. Attractive now with structure to last for decades.

Too early to give this wine any kind of rating. The concentration is obviously there as shown by the dark fruits, the intense spiciness, the minerality and, yes, also the oak. Wouldn't touch it for another ten years to determine if all of the elements come together.

Leiden dinner December 2016: Inviting dark fruit nose, very spicy. Dark fruit taste, concentrated, again spices, minerals, round tannins in the long finish. Is remarkable open for business. Very fine, very special.

Steinmineraler. Trenger mer tid.

DRC 2013 Vintage Presentation: 4.7 ha / 8’878 btls. in 2013, 14hl/ha. Medium-light garnet. Like in all seven DRC Grand Cru reds today the still quite closed nose started with a light touch of bee wax overlaying the red fruit. I don’t know why, may be it is just the stage they are in. On the palate though the tell tale DRC aromas with the signature notes of grape stalks, earth, subtle spices and a very light animalic touch come through. The Echezeaux displays much more red than black fruit and has the lightest mouth feel. The tannins are very present here like in all Crus in this vintage calling for patience till 2023.

Annual Martel DRC Tasting: Vintage 2013: More on red fruit than the Corton, and floral too. Some oak. Better centered and with more body. The tannin too, though very fine-grained, is stronger. Mineral and very long. Second sip: Power and tension, mineral energy. Remarkable. More direct and narrower (in a good sense) than the Grands.

- Tasted at the yearly DRC vintage presentation of Martel in St. Gallen. Ripe fruits, mit taste on jam, pepper, some violet, liquorice. I liked it, even though the Grands-Echezeaux was much better

2013 DRC dinner (Operakällaren): Darker in colour than the Corton. Dark berried and barrel-influenced perfume. Quite full bodied, stemmy, berry, new barrels. Spices and slightly lighter than the Corton.

Much more refined and complex than the Corton right now. More stems and detailed spice. This is the better wine. But not today.
