A well made wine medium + tannins acidity - good balance - but a lot of dark mature fruit - cherries, plums and blackberries - we are also getting menthol and some chocolate. Will stay at 93.

Well balanced wine medium + tannins and acidity - a fresh wine lots of fresh fruit - especially cherries - we are also getting classic Nebbiolo herbes - a good long aftertaste - we are happy to give solid 93.

Caros 2011 Barolo Tasting - 28/7/2015 (Caros Wines, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand): High toned, with a sweet cherry aspect. Tarry and mineral laden fruit. Stronger palate than the basic Barolo. This comes across as very rich and intense. The Massolino wines have, as a general rule much denser colour than the Azelia and are certainly richer in the mouth.

Dark rose color. Nose with olive, bing cherry and a hint of asphalt. Very well focused and balanced with a medium+ finish.

Massolino 2011 parussi
Very clean and crisp in appearance. This is a big and powerful wine. especially for the vintage. Really hard to get away from the huge tannins.
Much more enjoyable on day 2. Showing more fruit. Cherries on the palate. Classic tar and rose on the nose.

Deep, dark, and wonderful - a lot in reserve here. Roses, deep dark fruit. Cherry and ink - a touch tar. So tannic; will take years. 94+
