I found this still quite young. Best after a few hours of air. Violet, soot, dark fruit aromas; similar flavors along with some tobacco. Quite tannic. Drink or hold. Good QPR ($16.50USD).

Mendoza value wine doing well with age. 2009 Bodegas Poesia Malbec Clos des Andes Reserva ($15.50 in 2018). Mid-garnet, brick edges; smokey, black fruit, black pepper nose; mid-body; mid tannins; long semi-tight slight hot (14.0 alc.) finish. w/appetizers. 16-16.5 UC Davis scale, 90-91 other scales.

Solid, By the book. Deep purple. Exhibits Raspberry, plum, black pepper and leather. Flavor is consistent with the nose. Finish is long and flavory with an accent of tobacco leaves. Medium tannins, medium acidity, full bodied. NI:3, FI:22, FC:8, B:3, L:4

Tasted great right after PnP. There is a velvety dark cherry/brambly mid palate that finishes very smoothly. Very little acid on the finish. Can drink easily without food. Complemented the eggplant lasagna we had for dinner nicely.

PNP. Deep ruby color. Tree nuts, black cherry and cola on the nose. Smooth, mouth filling palate, with good acidity. Medium intensity tannins on the medium finish. This was interesting and certainly reasonable for the price, but certainly not amazing or complex.

Rich, heavy wine. Dark plum colored. Nose is ripe blackberry, chocolate. Taste is same. Very rich palate, and lingering finish. Really enjoying wines we've had from Poesia vineyard.

Nose of plum, tobacco, and smoke. Tastes of plum and black cherry fruit. Some spice and smoke, fine tannins. Bottle opened all day, still seemed to be developing. 4,19,7,3,5;50=88

Still heavy and rich but flavors are separating. Even with 1-2 hours of air didn’t enjoy.

This Malbec got me into wine. Let breathe for 30. So smooth so silky.
Tart blackberry, cherries and plums. Very balanced.

Consistent profile with my prior note except much more cedar coming through on the nose that was somewhat off-putting. Maybe bottle variation?

Dark cherry, tobacco and cedar on the nose. Silky smooth in the mouth. Popped and poured, but continued to improve as it remained open.

Slightly better than the previous notes. A little more structure and better fruit, but all in all a great QPR.
