  • Light strawberry red (gamay/pinot like)
Decanted for 1-2hrs, consumed over 2 days.
Red berries, strawberries, raspberries, bramble, pepper, forest floor, jam, strawberry jolly ranchers.
Med body, alcohol present but not overwhelmingly hot for 16+%, med+ finish, nice acid, fruit and tannins integrated nicely balanced, this will get better with age.
Palate similar to the nose, wonderful bright red fruits cut with the pepper spice and hard candy and grape jam (i typically dont care for jammy wines, this is very subtle), some forest floor brambly earth. I would hold in hindsight but was craving a Zin.

  • Opened & drank without much time. After 1 hour still fairly hot & spicy.
There's a lot to like but more time in the bottle should reward.

  • PNP. Only other review / score to this point is a "79" with no notes. I'm surprised. This is excellent. Martinelli winery notes state "The palate is clean and supple with silky raspberry coulis, golden stone fruit and a touch of minerality." I would agree with that note. Would add that it's a bit hot at this young age but otherwise well balanced. Dark fruits and the standard Zin pepper and spice is there too. I would score this in the 92-93 range. Perhaps the 79 score was a bad bottle?
