Light plum and menthol on the nose. On the palate, plum, cherry, raspberry, and notes of herbal spice and raisin on the long finish, with moderate tannins and strong acidity. This is at or near its peak, and it should hold and possibly improve for a dozen years or so. This was an excellent value at about $65.

From the wine list at Marta (NYC). Decanted for about 30 minutes prior to serving. Nose is dark fruits and some herbs. On the palate dark silky berries, a touch of raisin, and herbs. The weight and mouthfeel are quite nice. The finish is on the shorter side - not as persistent as the '09 which I had a few months ago.

Big surprise.. ruby red with nose of dried dates, earthiness, and smokiness. Really mellowed out tannins, and a slight sweetness on the finish. Unique and something i've not had. Lovely. Thanks for sharing Carnita.

Double decanted then SO'd for a few hrs, med. ruby, a little closed on the nose, classic cherries & herbs for Quintarelli Valpos, soft tannins, med. finish; very nice & always a unique joy to drink (ready)

Megan's 30th (Chicago, IL): A very lovely bottle of extremely fruit-forward wine. In fact, this is the sort of fruit-forward wine that I absolutely adore. There's just a nice touch of dried herbs here as well and despite the massive ripeness and fruit here, there's just enough tannin and acidity to keep this going. There's never a moment where this is flabby -- it's a well-proportioned fruit bomb.

Nose: The nose is deep and aromatic with pencil lead, red cherries, cranberries, tobacco notes, violets, a touch of vanilla, and roses.
Taste: Full bodied with medium acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are youthful with the feel being refined and backed up with pencil lead, red cherries, tobacco, violets, roses, and some vanilla.
Overall: This is drinking beautifully right now. It's well balanced and shows off a lot of class and poise.

Multiple grapes all working together in harmony to produce a plummy wine with a hint of spice and tasty cherries, richly held together with the 15% alc that gives body rather than heat. Drinking ok now but I would like to see this again with more age for another go.

Menthol and a hint of raisin on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, plum, and notes of lemon drop, strawberry, and bitter tobacco on the medium finish, with light tannins and good acidity. This doesn't show its 15% alcohol. The tannins suggest that this is still young, so I have set half the bottle aside to see whether it will improve. Right now this seems less complex than some other Quintarelli wines I have tried. Edit: This was different the second day, with a little more complexity -- some raisin coming through on the palate -- and a somewhat longer finish, but the tannins seem to have become stronger after 24 hours rather than being absorbed. I think this is just too young, and needs four or five years yet to show really well. Score increased by a point to reflect the improvement, but I suspect this will improve more than that over the next several years.

Opened decanted and served. An interesting twist of a wine, first time we come across this, a lighter valpolicella in style but not a simple wine at all. Cherries , plums, light spice on the nose. On the palate it carries the 15% alc very well in signature quintarelly style, good depth and complexity. An underdog of a wine and really happy to have crossed paths with it. Drinks well now but has a good life sharpest of it. 92+

Easy drinking, without edges. Notes of dark berries, flower petals and mild herbs. A touch of minor VA provides lift.
