This wine is maturing fantastically. That being said it might be approaching the beginning of its peak. There is more of a white peppery taste than prior bottles but my previous notes remain consistent. Dark, rich color, leather and tobacco nose, dark and tart cherry on the palate with a great finish. Good stuff.

Served 9 wines for Easter dinner party. Couldn’t have been happier because each wine paired fantastically from appetizer to dessert while pleasing the entire crowd of wine snobs. I have left my rating for each wine below and how it was paired. I also recommend all wines on this list.
Main: Dry rubbed smoked lamb and oven roasted Greek style lamb with asparagus au gratin & roasted potatoes. 2008 Don Melchor (94pts) 2009 Luca Beso de Dante (92pts) 2009 Norton Privada (92pts) 2013 Bodegas Caro (Barons de Rothschild) Amancaya (92pts) 2009 Emiliana Coyam (91pts)
Dessert: Black bottom pecan pie NV Moutard Père et Fils Champagne Rosé (92pts) NV Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Champagne Brut (89pts)
It’s no secret how I feel about Amancaya. I have left many reviews and this will mimic them. It has this crazy deep cherry front and mid palate and richness not found in cabernet at double the price. It’s aging excellent and am so glad I have more.

Had at Christmas with Pork Crown Roast and drank with a 2012 BR Cohn Gold Label Cab and a 2015 Tenuta Terre Nere Etna Rosso. Everything paired beautifully. Great wine and even better QPR.

Excellent QPR, very, very good wine. Originally, purchased 8 cases for my sister's wedding upon release. 3 Cases remaining. Aging quite nicely. Black cherry becoming more predominate, tannins mellowing. Looking forward to the rest, wouldn't be surprised if it gets a 93 next time.

Pleasant surprise. Was not necessarily expecting much at this price. I was wrong. Nice dark color, mild aroma. Nice structure with some sweet red cherry fruit. Nice balance with soft mouthfeel, yet tannis still present throughout. Medium complexity with long lingering flavors.

Decanted for about 45 minutes before first taste. A great blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. According to the label on the back of the bottle, this is a 50/50 blend, but according to the Caro website 2013 is 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet blend. Either way this is a very nice wine.
Wonderful nose on this one- I picked up scent of leather and tobacco in addition to fading fruits of prunes and figs.
Wine color is still ruby red but on the edges one can begin to see it thin away a bit. In 3 or 4 years we will see a bit of bricking I’m sure. Overall a great wine that accompanied a simple Italian weekend dinner. Drinking well now but will improve with a few more years in the bottle. Bought another 6 bottles- at $16 this wine is a steal and a great QPR.

Enjoyed with a Greek meal of Gigantes Plaki and Pita. After breathing for an hour it opened up nicely. Slightly alcoholic nose, but that didn’t feature on the palate. Nice blend of dark berry fruit, cherry, leather and a little minerality. Medim finish features the fruit. The key is to let this breathe a minimum of an hour

Dense and tight. Packed with flavors of cocoa, coffee, cassis, cherry, and earth. Full bodied with tannins that are not yet fully resolved. This would be more interesting in two years.

Very deep ruby color. Full bodied. Cassis on the nose and palate; juicy with light tannins very much under control. Medium finish. I didn't especially note any spice, but that could have been the smoked elk sausage from Local that I paired it against--those suckers are pretty spicy themselves. I'm not a fan of Malbec, and I got none of the metallic tinges here with this Cab blend that always turns me off. GV.
