  • Leathery tarry nose, blackcurrant and cassis, very much like that of old claret. Full bodied and lively, plumy, raisiny on the palette. However this was lacking any significant complexity. Peppery finish. Good, but maybe missed the peak as it felt a little one-dimentional.

Peccato fosse l'ultima bottiglia.

  • The last one of six bottles consumed since 2002. The first one 2004 had rich fruit and still a way to go. After 6-7 years more strong and high acid. Best ones after 8-10y with rich fruit and more balanced, score 93. The last one though surprisingly good fruit and balance even if it had lost The strength of her Youth.

  • Interessante Nase, violette Farbe, guter Grip am Gaumen, schöne Tannin- Säure Balance, Aromen nach Rauch, Tabak, Speck, langanhaltender Abgang. 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Dark crimson cabernet sauvignon. A classic son of the hot 2000 vintage.
Small acidity, silky and refined tannins, full-bodied but not heavy wine.
Cassis, cocoa, mocha and a long delicious finish.
    Really mouth-coating.
Lacking complexity of a great Supertuscan, but really worth its price.

  • Dark Ruby. Fleshy nose of morello cherry under spirit and redcurrant. Blackberry confiture, plums confit, cedar peel candied, cloves, black pepper, star anise, cinnamon, mocha, cocoa. Great balance at palate, with smooth silky tannins, good acidity and massive load of polyalcohols. long finish. In spite of its international style (it's 100% Cabernet Sauvignon elevated in oak barrels) maintains a perceptible connection with the territory. Great to drink now, probably very close to its peak. 2000 was such a great vintage for Olmaia!

  • Medium deep brown color. Good smell with violet, black currant leaf, and Coffey . Medium bodied wine but with very good balance. Softer tannins than the rest we tested.

  • Drank with Jim and Lori in Philadelphia. This wine was a perfect match with lamb. Nice nose of chocolate, anise and spices. Dark color with no signs of bricking. A mouthful on the palate with a finish that last for over a minute. Very nice wine and is still drinking very well.
