Wow - Decant 4 hours - drank in Zalto Glasswear - and let me tell you this wine is huge. Bold fruit, smooth, I'm saddened I only have 1 from when I first joined Miner wine club. Honestly, if you can find this wine, get it. It's ready now and on election victory night, glad I had this wine.
Nary a hint of age in its color. A nose of red fruit, touch of oak. The palate reads red raspberry, red cherry, vanilla. A hint of forest floor to suggest its age, but not much. Tannins that hit firmly, but not overwhelmingly so. They like to sit on the front of the palate and not move any further back. A nice moderate to long finish with no bitterness. This wine is singing right now. And, based on its structure, it could rest for a few more years, but why wait - it's gorgeous.

Decanted >3 hours. It has been 8 years laying since the last time we drank a bottle of this. My notes indicated nice but not a blow away wine. Well, this baby has grown up. Big bold dark red fruit with smoke, earth, vanilla and pepper. It has moved towards Cab (only 52%) but is now in the Wow category. Sorry to see this go. In a great window right now.

A ruby wine with an enticing, yet powerful nose of vanilla, juniper, cassis, and berry. Astonishingly soft in the mouth with rich tastes of black currant, vanilla, dark berries. Loads of both berry and vanilla to the point it makes the wine seem sweet.

Nose of blackberry, black cherry, and a touch of earth, more of the same on the palate, my last bottle chosen to pair with the Porcini Crusted Filet Mignon at Fleming's for brunch. Bordeaux blend which is at it's peak, lots of rich fruit to taste, elegant, received favorable comments from both servers, medium/big body, smooth, supple, and savory tasting, long, flavorful finish.

Found 2 bottles of this wine behind the 1980's Dunn Howell Mountain, so, I promptly opened one to go with the meat pizza for dinner. Nose of blackberry, currants, ripe mashed cherry fruit, and a touch of dusty earth, more of the same on the palate, showing it's age beautifully, flavors of aged Bordeaux but with more power and fruit, smooth and elegant fruit on the mid palate, easy to sip and drink the entire bottle during the evening, medium body, long, long finish with a hint of what was a terrific bottle of Oracle.

Nose of currants, black cherry fruit, very aromatic, more of the same on the palate, almost elegant, has peaked, delicious tasting today, medium/big body, long, flavorful finish. Absolutely delicious. My wife said "wow" when I handed her the glass. Has the structure, weight and flavors of a very good Bordeaux. Some green, but good green that imparts complexity. Red fruit with balanced acidity and tannins. A fabulous wine. Too bad I only had this one bottle.

Color starting to lighten up, brick around a large portion. Very good nose of cinnamon. A little too much oak for my liking and bit overripe fruit taste. Others at dinner really loved it. I'm neutral and not a good deal at this price point.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Garnet color, nose of strawberry jam, cedar, and a bit of spice. Upon opening, the wine tasted a bit hot, but that disappeared after 90 minutes in the decanter. Nicely balanced tannins, acid & jam on the palate.
Seems fully mature & delicious.

After decanting for 1.5+ hours this wine was showing beautifully. Dark garnet-purple colour. Nose of dark fruit and tobacco. Big but balanced flavour showing a solid fruit core. Smooth integrated tannings, nice finish. Can't see this improving much if it all, definitely prime time to drink and enjoy.

A bit of toasty oak, but deep and rich without that flabbiness that I dislike in many 04s when they were young. A bit of heat at 30-45 minutes which disappated after another 30 minutes. Overall drinking nicely right now. I don't see it improving much. Drink up.

Nice wine although I think a little more cab sauvignon in the blend would've made it better. The blend percentages thinned it out slightly which is OK and quite nice as a food-matched wine but may not have brought the full character of the wine mix to fore.

Drank after tasting "Laughing Jack" Shiraz, which was the WOTN.
The '04 Miner was over-oaked, even after decanting the wine never achieved full integration, especially on the nose. I got a little chocolate & some dark fruit, but the oak was over powering. Toasty oak, with some fruit flavors coming through in the mouth. Paired fairly well with Thai filet mignon steaks. Not much length on the finish. Could possibly benefit from time on it's side, but who knows how the '04's will evolve at this stage. (81-85) 50+5+7+12+7

I just can not get enough of this wine. Full bodied silky smooth perfection. The finish reminds me of chocolate melting in my mouth it goes on forever it seems. It was my epiphany wine prior to this I didn't understand what it meant to drink fine wine. I'm still drinking it and will drink it as long as I can find it.

We had this with a 94 Dunn Howell Mtn. and a 91 Ridge Cab Santa Cruz Mtns. Those were both vibrant and outstanding showing those delicious older Cab qualities that you either like or don't. When the Oracle was first opened, it showed all its youthfulness. Rich fruit, but with good acidity and tannins. But also with a healthy dose of oak, especially on the back palate. However, over the roughly 5 hours that it took for 4 of us to have dinner and taste and retaste, the Oracle began to show what it might be like 10 years down the road. The oak softened, some of those secondary herbal flavors began to assert themselves, the oak receded, and in general the wine calmed down and became more complex and interesting and less in-your-face. 92 for what it is now.. but with time this could go up a couple of points.

LWTF - Napa Tasting (London): (Brief notes & thoughts from Walkaround Tasting): The nose seemed a little smudged at first but did improve slightly with time. This is an opulent almost fat style of wine. Big, rich and powerful with truckloads of fruit the flavour comes at you in waves with blackberry, cassis and tinned cherry even with crushed blueberries (warmed), vanilla, toast and filo pastry. Blend of Merlot and CF.

Opened for dinner and paired with flank steak with a pomegrante reduction sauce and grilled veggies. Initially was tight and took some time in the decanter to open. Once it did, powerful yet fine tannins came through which softened over the dinner. Plenty of depth and complexity, but needs some time in the bottle still or decant for several hours before serving. Fantastic wine!

Wow...that was my and Lorena's first reaction on smelling this. I served it to her blind, and she immediately said "Cabernet" on looking at the color. After swirling and smelling, her verdict was Bordeaux. And then, she said it reminded her of the 1999 Leoville Barton. Pretty good guess. This is a Bdx type blend: 52% Cab, 26% Merlot, 21% Cab Franc and 1% Malbec.
Dark red/blue fruit that was elegant and supple..and this should have alerted her that it was not Bdx...it is more fruit forward than Bdx typically is... but it is not at all a bruiser. Very balanced and with just a hint of oak that will probably disappear with time. I only received this a couple of weeks ago as part of my Miner wine club shipment..and I couldn't wait to try it. After going to a fund raiser dinner last night at the university where the wine was Wente and the filet mignon was so over-cooked as to be almost inedible, I pulled this to serve with top sirloin from the BBQ served with portebellos. Perfect. 4.0+
