This chianti was very light weight, which I presume is why some tasters were quite negative. And 2014 was not a good vintage in chianti. But it is varietally correct, and has decent balance. Drank this with lighter fare (cod fish and some pesto pasta) and it was a solid accompaniment to the food. No not too bad.

S: bubble gum, dried fruit, and old cedar T: sour cherry and pomegranate up front, toasty and drying on the mid, puckering tannis on the finish A bit one dimensional but not bad.

It's difficult to point at anything obviously wrong with this wine. It is well balanced with adequate red fruit, adequate acidity, agreeable texture and some structure but it is bland and dull and, at c.€13, over-priced.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and forest floor. The body is light/medium. The wine has bright texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

GTW Tuscan Reds Star Performers Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): muted cream and red cherry on the nose…slight red cherry on the palate, still quite fresh. Lost in this line up as it's quite muted but I think this might be rather pleasant with a big bowl of pasta in tomato sauce…inoffensive
