I love the soft ripeness coupled with the savory development on this wine right now. Very drinkable and in a perfect drinking window, overall. Sandalwood, smoke and spices come through with a darker shade of fruit and while the remaining structure is intact, this has to be among the less aggressively tannic Pommard’s tasted in a while. Like many of the wines the tasting, this is aging very well on its balance. 94.

Tasted blind in a “whole cluster” tasting: Did not recall having this in July of 2018 but my impressions and score are identical. Just noted how “way off base” BH’s note on this is!

Classic aged burgundy nose which composes wild fruit, dried flowers, forest, iron, autumn leaves, earth and sous bois. Good underlying sweetness which becomes more expansive in the glass yet still retaining the terroir’s rustiness.

A stunning Pommard which drank more like a Cote de Nuits. Wild flowers, perfume, tangerine peel, strawberry, and tea on the nose. Palate was delicate and silky with pure fruit sweetness. Great length and depth. Probably one of the best aged Cote de Beaune red I had.

Tasted blind: Pale ruby with large clear rim; clearly older, autumnal with rich cherry fruit on nose; the palate explodes and gushes with dark red berries. Delicious

2014 Acker BYO at TriBeCa Grill (TriBeCa Grill, NYC): Pretty, bricking ruby. Rosy, fresh, very 1985 nose: billowing, smoky cheery red cherry, raspberry, and a little spice; but especially red roses. Not necessarily complex, but truly pure and lovely. The palate, too, is very fresh and pure, roses, candied tangerine peel; very elegant and cool. Still a welcome bite of tannin but well resolved with good, focusing acidity. Good but not great length. No more upside, at least from this bottle. Delicious but drink. (my wine)

Matt's bottle. Gentle and mature nose: strawberry, red spices, animal gut, blood or iron. Great perfume. Palate has good fruit and spices, animal fur, soft tannins. Slight old, maybe lost a step, but really excellent. Acids are still solid. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
