At home with ex-Nobu chef Tom Bascon: Popped open to replace a defective Dauvissat 'Forest' 2000. Light yellow green color, clear and bright (almost like an SB). Nose was muted since it was still cold from the wine fridge. First sip showed some classic Puligny notes but quite restrained. Both nose and palate stayed this way for the rest of the evening. Good but nothing close to excellent.

Caillerets Shoot-out: Puligny vs. Chassagne - Part 1 of L2O Dinner (L2O - Chicago IL): Single blind. Started with ripe fruit and nutty character. Floral elements came and went within minutes. Fruit started good but was on the downside within 30 minutes. While this is not prematurely oxidized, it is far more advanced than it should be. I've tasted better bottles of this wine.

A good but not great PM. It had spice and a garden type smell. The color was appropriate at straw yellowish. It had minerals and a stone feel to it. I was afraid it might have been a bit long in the tooth, but it was plaeasant, just not a WOW that you occasionally get from a great brug.

Chronicle: Very yellow-pee yellow; a bit oxydized smell, rich mth lacking in a’s. Not good for this level of wine.

Volnay Dinner with Lieu-dit Cru (Kevin Restaurant, Chicago IL): Tasted blind. Rich, ripe orchard fruit aromas and flavors, modest spice. Nicely balanced today. Soft finish. Drink up in the next 2-5 years.

Deep golden color. Forward aroma of oaky deep yellow fruit. Big bold acidic zingy yellow fruit with oak (too oaky for my palate). 3/06
