Someone brought this over and left it here so I used it for cooking and stole a glass. On opening, potato skin on the nose; a cross between strawberry and raspberry in color; on the palate: some black pepper with subdued fruit in the background; seems watery and viscous on the finish. Mediocre to Fair.

Decent, and consistent with my previous experience, the shiraz is the best of the Two Buck Chuck reds. No depth, but what's there is pleasing and drinkable.

Surprisingly easy drinking for $1.99 at Trader Joe's. A little tight on the nose, but nice easy cherry flavors on the midpalate. A little pepper, but I wouldn't call it peppery. Short-to-medium length finish. Light body, but overall, balanced. Not hot at all like I was expecting. Went very nicely with a spicy Baja Fresh burrito. I'd buy again and serve at a casual get together without embarrassment. It did what it was supposed to do.

I believe that some of the very low ratings are because it is only 2 bucks. This is not a "fine wine," but it is fine, and a rather good value. the 2002 Shiraz beat out 2,300 wines at the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition. With that said...I found the 2002 a bit thin. It lacked the skin extraction that will give a Shiraz it's typical kick. Hints of pepper exist, but they are overpowered by the flavor of a cherry Jolly Rancher. The wine may be a little candied for some. Do better under $10 bottles of Shiraz exist? Absolutely. For the budget restrained or conscious, this is an acceptable wine to through into the mix.

Very consistent with the other bottles I had before. Very strange/bad nose but ater being opened for 20 minutes or longer it is really nice. Spicy, fruity, lighter than a typical shiraz but still a very good value for a $3 wine.

I thought it was corked when I opened but it slowly started to open and didn't taste too bad. Not complex by any means and would not drink it by itself but goes very well with spicy food. I had it with stuffed chicken breast and later with indian snacks. Very good value for under $5. I want to pair it with a lamb dish, so I will get another bottle and add my impressions.
I got a second bottle and it was even better! Definitively recommend it.

It is what it is. Not as bad as 3 dollar wines used to be, but not really a wine you would think about. There are a lot of good wines out there for just a little more, but at this price point this wine measures up well.

I actually was surprised how much I liked this. Shiraz tends to be a bit overwhelming, and this wine was a great deal more subtle than expected. It was a bit light in color, which seems a two buck chuck trademark, had a bit or mild spice to it, and certainly tasted like shiraz, but was not overly strong in flavor. If you are expecting a typical strong shiraz this isn't it. It is hard to fault it too much considering the cost.

Great value! Not much on the nose, but very fruit forward with dark berries and a hint of spice.
