#17 89. Golden with slight orange hue. From the start nose of different citrus fruits including oranges, then peach and mango, slate, smoky minerality. On the palate it shows great balance between refreshing acidity, not fully shed sweetness and fruit. If you recork this, it should age for another decade or two. The cork of this, since release textbook cellared bottle, is fully soaked, but not leaking. 5/13/17/10. -2030.

Lime rind, honey, marmalade, minerality and apple. Outstanding balance with concentrated fruit and sweetness countered by a great line of fine acidity. It has great depth, but a touch more length and it would be unbelievable. Much better than a previous bottle.

Moderately ripe, classic, citrus & petrol on the nose with a hint of pineapples. Very rich, spicy, sweet, concentrated, balanced palate. Packed with stuff, but a bit too straightforward and lacking charms, this needs more time, but is a great wine anyway!

Dinner in Canberra (Canberra, Australia): Orange marmalade coloured. Nose shows peaches, apricot, honey, marmalade and some slate. The palate has plenty of sweetness and while it is not over the top, it feels like the acid isn't quite there to balance things out. Good, but looked a bit tired based on this bottle.

Older Rieslings - Group #1, My #1. Full deep yellow. Medium aroma of honeyed rich yellow fruit and petrol. Lovely bright zingy rich yellow fruit and apple with noticeable sweetness. Nice. 8/05

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2012 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Popped and poured. Wow. What a beauty! So fresh and balanced. Beautiful acidity, wonderful fruit. So young. Very long and complex finish. Great! 94-95
