This started out quite tannic and structured on day one. Enjoyable but a bit rough around the edges. Day two it fell apart it was held at 57 with the cork in it and 75% of the bottle left. No more tannins, flabby plum and blackberry.

I think I might be a little generous with a 92 rating. But a 91 just didn't seem right. I've had a couple of wines from this producer and usually dig their style.....with Cabernet. Lush blackberries with ample weight and rounded edges and I noticed baking space towards the finish. On the finish, this Syrah was definitely present. To me, seemed to add a more purple fruit type of character and had to check that this was not a Malbec blend! Was a nice touch, but not a personal favorite. I think I would have dialed back the syrah a few notches. I think their Cab Franc / PV combination would be more for me.

Not that this wine is “cheap,” it’s not, yet it still punches above its weight. Truly delicious, with deep black berry on the palate and a beautiful nose. It fills your mouth without being syrupy, and has a lasting finish. This will only improve with time.

I let this breath about 4 hours. It has medium to full body and is fairly fruity and a little sweet at the front. It seemed like a generic CA red. But it had a very tart black currant-like taste at the back that was unpleasant. We had company and none of us liked it and discarded it. We switched to a nice Pinot from M2 and another from Lula. I tasted the Cab Syrah again day 2 and it had the same nasty tasty on the back. I thought about marinating our pork chops with it but decided to follow the advice of "cooking only with wine you would drink". So I pitched this example of Alpha Omega.

Very nice wine. Very dark purple-ruby color, lighter at the edge. Excellent legs. Very rich nose with beautiful coffee ground, dark chocolate and well-rendered fruit in the nose. Excellent in the mouth, chewy, rich, chunky fruit, very fine and smooth with big, bold fruit. Lengthy finish. All around fabulous wine, young but already showing its charms. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.
