Red brick opaque pale margin still with a decent fruit bouquet. Acids softer than before, to the extent it complemented the tomato fresca sauce at Lupino Pasta in Whistler who provides corkage fir a reasonable fee.

Medium deep scarlet with some bricking. Quite big, slightly woody black currant nose. Slightly tight, oaky palate. Needed a longer decant than the thirty minutes I gave it. After quite a bit of air, on the second night it showed much better, much more integrated and smooth. Will keep my remaining bottle for at least a couple more years.

Consumed over three evenings (vacuvin). Decanted two hours, but still pretty closed. On second evening already some smell of aging (raisins) which was completely gone on the third day (a pleasant surprise) when it performed best - beautiful thick, dark nose, full body with sweet fruit and long finish. I would suppose one could still hold this for another three years at least.

Opened and decanted for an hour to pair with grilled top sirloin steaks. Good color, though reticent nose and a mix of black and red fruits. This was put under vacuum and left on the counter, and was drinking at its best on day #3, indicating to me that this still has some ways to go.

Tasted at The Wine Society's Bordeaux tasting in London. From a good vintage, it was refreshing to find a 13 year old vintage amongst many more recent vintages. Very pleasant, good depth, still good fruit. Drinking very well now, but clearly well into its drinking window, so don't keep much longer.

Our 5th bottle. Med to med deep ruby - nice red fruit and sweet tobacco nose - great, fruity, tannic well-balanced palate - excellent Cru Bourgeois from an excellent vintage - a slight hint of green/herb that is just enough to add interest to the whole, and ensure a continued evolution of complexity - for the price, this is excellent! Now to 2022

Tasted as an example of the St Estephe commune in 2005. Cheapest wine of the Medoc flight. Good colour with hint of age at rim. Blackcurrant, mint and herby stalkiness on nose. Good structure with firm but not harsh tannins, some fruit and pepper, and good balance. Ready to drink. Good value mid-range claret. WoFW 14/20 Numerical score /20 for a wine under £15, say 17-18.

Opaque red-brick with a pale meniscus. Red berries over earth and leather with a blend of earth tones and structure to the palate. This may be the optimal drinking point for this vintage

The bottle we had had aged pretty well. It's an ok wine for our taste but very flat. The finish is extremely short and overall it's too simple a wine for a way too high price. I prefer something like Chateau Chantegrive 2005 by far when it comes to easygoing wines, which is also superior value for money.

Really disappointing. Is everything that is wrong with many Bordeaux wines. Confuses 'elegance' with 'lack of flavour'! Just really lacking. Thin. Little fruit. Little backbone. Not great really

Opened three hours before drinking. Rather dark red, very slim water rim. Beautiful nose: Plum, cassis, cedarwood, typical right bank. Maybe not the most complex wine, but it is still young and what is there is very good. And it is certainly not one dimensional either. Medium to full body. Broad, but not too massive. Tannins are still noticeable, but elegant. After some time in the glass they become pretty polished. Very good, fresh finish, medium length. Actually it goes on for quite a while. A great vintage and this wine shows, why the little chateaus are always a good choice in those years. I truly enjoyed this wine with a Sunday roast. It is plain fun to drink now, not alcoholic, a modern Bordeaux but not in a new world style. It seems that it is starting to get into the right drinking window now where it will keep improving/stay strong throughout the next years.

A nice value Bordeaux wine here, with lots of spicy cassis, earth and blackberries. This medium bodied wine is ready to drink now and over the next few years.

Reviewed on pop and pour. Intend to drink later and will track. Color in the glass is clear ruby with a little bricking at the edges. Nose has some decent fruit but not much complexity. Hints of secondary spice notes, a little earthiness, graphite, but all these are very muted. Palate starts pretty aggressively on the tongue. This starts out as a monster with the tannins. Shows little fruit. Very closed. Will come back to it later. Day 2 Very open, fruit is good, nice integration and development. I'd say this has a few years of development to go. Would buy again based on day 2 drinking.

Crushed rock (granite or sandstone based) and wild-strawberry on the nose. Firm tannins with moderate acid make for decent structure. Flavors of darker red tree fruits including cherries and some blackberry - though softened even the wine out. Over time it exhibits some smoky bouquet overtones. Simple finish though a slight alcoholic back palate for a few seconds - post.

Young but delicious. Dark fruit, earth, and oak in the nose. Tight tannins, rich dry cherry leading to a pencil-lead finish. I pick up a very slight green quality, but it is a minor detraction. I think this will be great to try in 2010.

A nose of earth, black fruits, and a light hint of dark chocolates lingers on the nose while in the mouth flavors of blue and black fruits are supported with minimal oak presence...a very good wine that just needs a few years in the cellar.

The 2005's are here! In the glass the Le Boscq is a deep magenta. On the nose there seems to be perfect balance of spice, vanilla, deep black fruits, and a touch of earth. A very impressive nose indeed. The wine doesn't fulfill the promise made by the boquet. While there is very good balance, the palate is a bit thin and the finish ends rather abruptly. I won't say I'm disappointed since I only paid $24 for this but I will say I'm looking forward to greater things from some of the other 2005 Bordeaux's I purchased which include the d'Issan, Lagrange, Pontet Canet, La Confession, Haut Bergey, and Smith Haut Lafite, to name a few. Unfortunately those notes won't be entered for many years so until then, drink great wine my friends, do good work, and enjoy life.

Room-filling scents of cedar and incense, rich cherry liqueur in a dark chocolate shell, and graphite minerality framing some beautiful, dusty currant. The palate is full of racy, sweet tannin, med-bodied extract, ripe black cherry and raspberry, and the very slightest hint of green bitterness in the somewhat clipped finish. Overall, in a state of sufficient aeration, this wine is lush and bouyant and exceedingly fresh. I'd highly recommend at about 15-20 Euro. Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois Superieur.
