Brunello with some roses: A little funky at the start but blew off after a couple of hours. Some commented this was more like a Burgundy than a Brunello on the nose, but the only giveaway was the rather firm and rustic tannins. Judging from the price jumps in recent vintages, I think they might have refined their style to become a more elegant one compared to this showing.

Ninth vineyard visited - Le Ragaine on my Montalcino trip. The base Brunello for 2010 came top of a wine tasting in December so had high expectations. Medium aroma quite fragrant, darker hue. Tangy first Brunello burst - oranges and dark cherries. Nice smoky finish, slight lingering and spice. Actually liked the base Brunello and VV more, still enjoyed this wine.

A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy): Wow. This is really good. Not yet released. Ruby in color, browning t the rim. This is more sexy than the other BdM's but still on the elegant side. Just a warmer quality. The nose has cherries, sage, iron and charred wood. On the palate, this has silky tannins. Juicy acidity. Great balance. Approachable now, but should improve but a point or two. Wish I could have bought some now, but a real treat to taste.

Copper robe. Tar, tobacco and sweet cherry beauty. Paired beautifully with a 4 cheese pizza on Bastille Day. Allons enfants de la patrie transalpine !
