Still youthful and firm, but approachable. Very detailed, yellow fruit, minerality, smokey. On the palate tight and compact, wonderful acidity, great fruit. Very intense, very layered with wonderful depth and length. Fantastic. (Drink or) keep. 96-97+

I really enjoyed this. At first, I was very suprised by the developed nature. Quite dark (especially next to 2003 Krug and 2000 Leflaive). Lots of marzipan, biscuits and savoury notes. Some caramel. Lovely full mouthfeel with air. But I cannot help but feel this was advanced for its age.

Dinner at Ma Cuisine (Beaune): Popped-and-poured, this really took almost two hours to show its best. Started off ripe, fleshy and incredibly concentrated with too much baby fat, but also too much acidity. This was enjoyable at first, albeit strict. By the end, it was still so concentrated with wonderful balance. Better to cellar another few years, best 2022-2034+.

Served after a 2000 Raveneau Montee de Tonnerre. This was a nice counterpoint to the Raveneau, very stylish with plenty of creamy oak, though met with good stuffing and electric fruit as well. Needed 1-2 hours to open and a good chill to show its best.

Bright green yellow; rich and beautiful nose, butterscotch, candied lemon, lime zest, mineral, lovely integrated oak, sharper mineral edges to the wine, huge palate, great mid, luxurious and showing great terroir already, long and delicious.

Slow oxed for 3 hours. Nose was beautiful with nut, mineral, lemon peel and yellow fruit. Palate was very backward in which the layers were not expressed. I will wait at least 8-10 years before my next one. A very good batard. 93-94 potential

DIVA Burgundy Tasting (Maison Champy - Beaune): Tasting, brief note. Ripe fruit with lots of power. Spice, fruit, floral notes provide great sensory pleasure, nicely supported with elegant structure. 93-95 point potential for this rockstar wine.

Tasted after the 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet Village and the 1er Cru La Maltroie. A little muted on the brooding nose, still showing delicate notes of ripe fruit, crushed stone, wood smoke and flowers. On the palate vibrant and powerful, showing a tightly wound mix of generous fruit, well integrated acidity and lovely minerality. Very very long. This will be amazing in a couple of years. 94-95+

Tasting: Just slightly oaked, I actually thought this was a high quality Chablis. Great.

Perfectly pleasant young Batard but lacking zest and depth to be truly outstanding. Perhaps time will be kind to it.
