This is a great QPR at discounted auction pricing and the best vintage for this wine I've had. Scored a 93 on the first night as the richness, structure and acidity all melded into a dynamic package. Lost some intensity and depth of flavor on second day. Not sure aging this much longer makes sense but it's singing now out of the bottle.

This is so much better than the '14 which was on sale at a fraction of the price, and there must have been good reason. This had some beautiful acidity and an almost electric intensity, more of a red fruit profile. An interesting style.

I have had several bottles of this wine, in different vintages and I have yet to be dissapointed. What I really enjoy about this wine is how well the tannins are integrated. Each sip is filled a balance of fruit leather, and pencil. Drinking well now.

Probably scored higher right out of the bottle on the first night as it was deep, smooth and flavorful. The second night it wasn't as nice as it was tighter and more herbal on the finish. Overall seems to be the best vintage of this wine.
Opened a hour or so before pouring first glass. Although the cork was fully stained and the tape left residue behind on the bottle when removing the content exceeded expectations. Thought I might have foolishly left it idle for too long as this was my last bottle but I was immediately pleased upon the first sip. Deep in color and spectacular depth. Ripe tannins and a hint off chocolate. Very consistent throughout the evening as we drank it all so there there will not any day 2 commentary.

Hefty dark blue and black fruits. Earthy and dirty in the best possible ways. Quite different from the 2010 (which seems a bit light to me) and 2012 (which is in a great place right now, most varietally true). Don't wait, drink now.

Nice but shy nose of plum, cassis, black olives, and sun-dried tomato. Initially more fruit (pomegranate, raspberry, plum) on the palate, but with time (1 hr decant) becomes more earthy, finishing long and dry. Much better than the 2010 V Block bottle from a month ago. Pleasantly surprised.

Extreme vintage variations with this producer as stated previously. This, once again, was a fantastic showing from a great vintage. A really nice Yountville Cab that keeps delivering a solid value. Decant about 30 mins. At first cocoa on the nose showing a deep red purple color with dark fruits on the tongue. Smooth and easy drinker that lacks a little on complexity but delivers a great QPR Cab especially for the $30 price paid. Bought 6 wish I'd made it a case.

Very tasty with ripe fruit. This does lack complexity, but it is well made with quality grapes. Should have broad appeal, but does not get killed by oak or venture into candied territory. Paired with steak on the grill and it serves well in that spot.

Beautiful purple, inky color. Strong fruit and earthy notes on the nose. Fruit forward, with plum, cassis and hint of vanilla. Almost jammy at first. Good mouthfeel. Short after. Softens nicely in the glass and drank well second day. Not too complex, but a very enjoyable wine if you’re not expecting a complex pour.

Very interestingly. So many of the great attributes that I’ve mentioned in the past are just MIA. I originally said this was “smooth, balanced & silky” and they’re all gone. Seems more fruity, red & cherry. Depth, smoothness & texture are just gone. And, even more interesting, this is just these last 3 bottles as well. All the others were fine.
I have several 2014 laying down. I’ll probably try on in the next week. Want to see how they’re doing.

(Tasted after a 90-minute decant....) I was a bit disappointed with this bottle. It was obviously Napa Cab, but without much depth or complexity. Short finish. I hope the subsequent bottles show better, as I bought 8 based upon the reviews here.

Very nice Cab but probably would be best with a little more time. Opened 2 hours prior without decant. Tannins persisted through out the next hour or two to keep the lovely dark fruit from shining. Great deep red almost purple color with a med+ body and fininsh. Singing nearing the end of bottle telling me hold on.... you'll be rewarded :-)

Decanted for about 90 minutes. Nice clear dark color with a nice oak and fruit aroma. Taste follows along the same route with dark fruit and oak. Low acidity & tannins. Nicely balanced and smooth. Went great with a Hamburger Helper (did I actually just say that!). LOL
I’d still give this 90 Points and for the money paid, a Great QPR.

Absolutely must decant this wine for at least 30 minutes...and when you do...you get a terrific cab with blackberry fruit beautifully integrated with notes of mocha, dark chocolate and cassis. 2nd day of tasting. The wine looks inky colored, medium legs with no sediment in the bottle. Nose is petrol at the initial impression but then settles into black pepper, prune, fig, black currant (cassis), mushroom, coconut, vanilla and alcohol/hot. It tastes like black currant (cassis), vanilla, espresso, black pepper, mushroom, mineral, cherry, plum, high toast and chocolate. The body is medium/full bodied and has fleshy texture. The wine finishes long with a bitter (in a balanced and pleasant way) aftertaste and has high acidity, which suggests 5-7 more years of aging without losing much. Yummy.

Very fruity and full bodied; day 1, definitely the fruit is predominant, a bit too jammy on the front end but has a good amount of heft in the mid and back palate to pull it through; day 2 was very interesting, started out with muted fruit and very BDX, then with another 2 hours the fruit came back and the finish was more rounded. Delicious. Bodes well for the future, I just bought another case!

Very nice, did a rapid decant on this bottle. Very similar to the last bottle, in fact, I think I’d raise this to 90 points. Excellent QBR for the price paid. And yes, I’m getting more from WTSO.
Very nice. Dark, but clear, purple color with a light red rim. A nice smooth aroma with subtle dark black and blue fruit. The taste is very similar, nice, smooth and balanced.
Overall, everything about this wine just oozes smooth, balanced and silky. Very nice and at the price paid, it’s a Great QPR.
Delicious and for the price point an excellent QPR. Smooth, dark & inky, plush and overall a great effort. Gets better with time so decant for a bit before enjoying

Decanted for an hour. Inky black in color. Nose of black fruit, smoke, and cassis. Black fruit, spice, chocolate, and terroir on the palate. Full bodied and long finish. Has a delicious factor. Wine got much better over time so will decant two hours next time. I'm glad I picked up a 3 pack.

2 1/2 hour decant (mag decanter). Nose: Blackberries, spice cake, and licorice. Really interesting aromas. Palate: Soft styled but plenty of evolved tannic stuffing with sweet blackberries showing in abundance along with hints of licorice and a prevalent spicy, medium length finish. Hides the titanic 15.4% alc level very well. A bit more modern than my current palate preferences but well done nonetheless.

Whoa, really nice wine, haven't had one of these in awhile. Jammy ripe blackberry, black currant, and plum fruit on the onset, but not overly extracted. Rich mouth feel to it of licorice, dark chocolate, baking spice, and a subtle mineral component to it on the finish. Good use of toasty oak, smooth tannins, nice long finish.

MNB: Oak % (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Medium plus ruby color. On the nose, ripe blackcurrant, dried blackcurrant, hint of dried cherry, hint of herbaceousness - ripe brown olive (slight pyrazines). On the palate, dry, full-bodied, high alcohol (14.5% - actually 15.4%), elevated acid, high tannins (a bit harsh but fine-grained). The tannic texture is notably different than the others - less chewy and more like grape skins (maybe more fruit-derived tannin?). The oak isn't noticeable on the palate. Possibly 25% or less. I'm going to say 100% used oak, so no new French oak.
Origin: This is a ripe, structured Cab with very little new oak. Possible regions are: - Australia - wouldn't be this tannic. - Washington - possibly - but they usually use oak - California - possibly - but they usually use oak
Final call: Washington Cab. 2013
49% new French oak.
Napa - 2013 liparita cab, yountville $65
Analysis: Pay attention to the finish. The oak wasn't obvious to me on the nose, but there was some baking spice notes on the finish.

Blind Cabernet: Drank a small pour at a tasting. This seemed very young, and it kept getting better in my glass. I went from an 88 to an 89 to a 90 to a 90+. Sweet red fruit, cocoa, tastes like Napa. 4th out of 8 for me.

Powerful wine, both in alcohol and impact. Balanced tannins and acid, with a jammy fruit core. I bought 12 bottles.

Get more, no doubt. Check with WTSO tomorrow.

MNB: Oak % (Home (Noe st)): (blind)
Medium plus ruby color.
Origin:
This is a ripe, structured Cab with very little new oak. Possible regions are:
- Australia - wouldn't be this tannic.
- Washington - possibly - but they usually use oak
- California - possibly - but they usually use oak
Final call:
Washington Cab. 2013
49% new French oak.
Napa - 2013 liparita cab, yountville
$65
Analysis: Pay attention to the finish. The oak wasn't obvious to me on the nose, but there was some baking spice notes on the finish.

Blind Cabernet: Drank a small pour at a tasting. This seemed very young, and it kept getting better in my glass. I went from an 88 to an 89 to a 90 to a 90+. Sweet red fruit, cocoa, tastes like Napa. 4th out of 8 for me.

Lots of barrel spice on the nose. Black licorice and that dark, not tar, but certainly really darn dark.

Big, composed, nice definition. Graphite, classy young purple and red Cab fruit, not over extracted. Young, and has the balance to age.

Deep red with black center. Blackberry, plum, cassis, graphite, and smoke on the nose and palate. Concentrated and intense with opulent mouthfeel. Moderate blackberry/mint finish. Really a thoroughly enjoyable wine. For me, not noticeably tannic or acidic. Drink. (92-94pts).

Good fruit but not too fruity .. great dry finish with medium tannins. I also tasted after 5 days open and was still awesome.I will lay down for 5 years before tasting again..
