Quick flight at Ruby (Ruby Wine Merchant, SF): Trebbiano, Verdicchio, and Malvasia. Pale yellow in the glass. Distinctive raw marzipan nose with slight floral hints (from the malvasia?). Classic pinot grigio structure - medium minus body, dry, medium alcohol, medium plus acid, slight bitterness.

A bit odd on day one, but the second day the balance between the acidity--think fresh lemons--and yet a very pleasant warmth really shone. This is a "with food" wine, but worth trying out. Very pleasant memories of a summer afternoon in Rome.

reeeally really odd. but a lot of fun. mad brett. distinct nose of camembert. phenol too. highly oxidized. medium to full body and some acid. squash, melon rind, and pine nut palate. medium long finish. weird and good- was great with a pretty diverse set of small plates. best pairing was compressed watermelon salad with feta and olives.

Color: Straw yellow. Fascinating bouquet of white flowers, ginger root, marzipan, white pepper and a touch of muscat grape (though I know that's not here). Palate is on the thinner side showing the ginger and muscat-y elements with a touch of walnuts(?). A little flat on the midpalate, not a lot of acidity here and the finish is kinda meh. Love the story of the wine -- a white blend of Trebbiano, Malvasia, and Verdicchio made by Cistercian nuns north of Rome with Giampiero Bea the consultant winemaker. Also like the price of $24/750ml. Just don't love the wine -- not my cup of white I guess.

My first time with a bottle of this wine and I really enjoyed it. Fresh and vibrant on the nose, which made the fullness of the wine almost surprising, but then again despite the fullness the wine is focused and energetic. Lovely herbal and yellow fruit, something like licorice on the finish, or that could have been the fennel in the risotto.

not the best version of this sometimes lovely wine. hoping that overnight it adds some weight and complexity.

Enjoyable. Skin contact, although more than standard winemaking, is minimal and a very mild introduction into wines with extended skin contact.
