  • Colour: Dull, garnet, see through ... light colour. No sediment.
Aromas: Some red berry fruit, and dried berries, cherry. The red fruits initially come across as sweet and then move to a bitterness. Spices like anise, nutmeg, cinnamon. Some definite minerality ... ash, wet stone, and earthiness.
Flavours: Sweet and tart red berry notes. Also a bit of blueberries. A nice light freshness. Spices, and tea bitterness on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied but barely. Vague dusty tannins but way in the background. Good acidity to keep the wine fresh.
Overall: Tasty, still delicious. But you have to like and appreciate the northern climate style of these wines. Not as much weight on the mouthfeel. More minerality, herbal tones. Good overall balance. Smooth.

  • Very disappointed after cellaring for some time. Sour cherry on the nose, faint orange peel, some forest floor. Thin, short finish and one note tasting fell short of expectations.

  • One of the few Canadian wines that can stand aging... and improve.

It's starting to come into shape. Delightful.

  • Dullish red to garnet in colour. No visible sediment. Let the wine air for a couple of hours in the glass. Nice definite notes of ripe strawberries, raspberries and cherries. Also a spices (touch of mild black licorice, cinnamon and nutmeg?), and some earthiness on the finish.
Flavours repeat … maybe some zesty blueberry mixed into the sweetish berry flavours. Good acidity brings the overall structure together. Mild dusty to slightly grainy tannins. Some black tea on the finish. Some berry richness on the entry that flows to a pleasant bitterness on the finish.
Light to medium weight, very pinot like in its overall presentation.
Enjoyed this wine with Thanksgiving meal.

  • Medium red. This bottle was quite reduced so I splashed it back and forth several times. Strawberry nose, perhaps raspberry, too. Richly flavoured of intriguing strawberry and blueberry pinot fruit and black tea. Acid is appropriate for the sweetish fruit and the tannin is firm across my gums on the finish. This is impressively good.

  • Very enjoyable, much improved from almost 4 years ago, so cellaring is helpful -harmonious now.

  • Medium ruby/maroon - rootsy, earthy cherry fruit - palate is nice, well balanced, good intensity- cherries and raspberries - v good acidity, v good length-perhaps a bit simple, but nice Pinot for the price

  • PnP following a '12 McLean Creek PN. This is brilliantly fresh and aromatic. The earth and herbs are well back in the palate. Nice balanced fruit and acidity. A delight in the glass.

  • Nice vibrant reddish hue ... see through. No sediment to speak of. Nice subtle/soft aromas of cherry, spice, and a gentle earthiness. Also a slight licorice tone.
Flavours of fresh cherry and raspberry, slight drying from tannins. Good acidity and a longish finish. Slight bitter tea on the finish. Nice overall complexity. Smooth and very tasty. Medium weight. A pleasure to drink. I would still portray it as a cool climate pinot ... refreshing, light and elegant.

  • Interesting, but not as good as the 2013 tasted a few months ago. Maybe too young, it's the equivalent of a good generic Burgundy. Not very complex, ok length, good balance. Let's try the other bottle in a few years.

  • I've tried Meyer Family wines before (when in BC) and since read about this one in Decanter magazine's 'Best Pinot Noir (outside Burgundy)' recent article (based on 2013 vintage). It truly deserves its place on the list. The wine is full of fruit but remains totally in balance. It's all singing and shows BC wines are ready for their place on the world stage.

  • Picked this up in a liquor store in Whistler, Canada. I asked for a Russian River Pinot, and the proprietor asked me if I was open to a Canadian wine, and I said I was, but was ignorant. So this was his take on giving me a medium weight pinot in a Russian River style. And it was a great choice. I paid about CAN 60 with tax, about US $46. So not a cheap wine, but fairly priced for quality - comparable to a Merry Edwards I would say. It IS a lovely wine, medium weight, structured, good fruit. I would love to try it again in a few years, but it presented itself well when popped and poured in our hotel.
