Color: brilliant deep dark purple. Nose: Intense! Gobs of dark fruit and flowers! Still has its unique violet aroma with some green vegetal notes Body/flavor: full body; Mouth-filling! Spicy, dark fruit and flowers. Well-balanced; still tannic Aftertaste: Lingering
Lacrima di Morro d'Alba continues to amaze me.

I think I prefer this wine younger and when it's got a more interesting and captivating nose. This bottle was less interesting than the last. More just "purple" and a bit jammy compared to its earlier floral and distinct fruitiness.

Bought 4b for 10/b from Garagiste 4.5 years ago; this is #3. Solid cork. Decanted with light sediment for its age. Inky purple; dark berry nose, hint of licorice, that follow on the palate, very good mouthfeel; some persistence. Delicious, semi-complex from this unfamiliar grape, glad to have more and would buy again. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

No detailed notes. Just enough to note that the floral nose, dominated by rose petals, remains present, while largely relaxed. Similarly, the floral element is present on the palate, but really the wine has integrated rather nicely and the potpourri aspect that some might find off-putting is now largely taking a back seat to the purple fruits.
While I really enjoyed the youthful exuberance and unique flavor profile that the wine presented previously, I can see where the wine might now have broader appeal. Either Drink Now, or Hold and let me know what it tastes like later...

This wine continues to evolve and as mentioned in Oct. '19 has shed the intense floral nose. Notes similar to Oct. '19 but this time less "slathered" with the fruit staying lifted even though it's dark fruits and it is now bringing the funk in a good way. Loving this at $10! It's a fun, pleasurable wine, but is not generic.

3rd day - still redolent of rose centric potpourri on the nose. The palate remains similar, if anything the wine has gained weight in the last couple of years, coming across as much closer to full bodied with nicely resolved tannins and juicy acid. The palate remains floral first, tasting of flower petals and macerated berries. There is a pleasant bitterness from the floral notes that play counterpoint to the dark berries. This is still a polarizing wine, yet all the more precious for that. While there is still plenty of acid, I’m not sure what the future holds. I’d love to know if someone has experience with more aged versions of this wine, as it tastes great now.

I didn't understand what this wine is supposed to taste like when I first opened it, so I let it sit a full day. It was definitely better after a day, but now I understand: very 'floral' on the palate (not just the nose), in a kind of fermented petals kind of way. I have two bottles left; I'm going to serve them with pizza, because I think this wine would be good in the way a Gragnano is great with pizza. I did not at all like this wine on its own, even sipping it between bites during dinner. Definitely a particular/peculiar taste.

Drinking better than prior bottles in 2016 and 2017. The overly expressive floral nose has integrated and we've got a wine that is deep and dark, juicy and soft. At times this reminded me of ripe Syrah with some minerality, but more "slathered".

Another nice showing. Very different. Geraniums anyone? So floral, it is almost offputting, but not quite. Ripe, juicy fruit, deep and juicy with nice sweetness.Very enjoyable and for the money, no more interesting wine.

Very tasty, different and distinctive. Both floral and fruity, but with structure and intensity. No formal notes, but would recognize this pretty much every time.

- Ruby color and aromas of strawberry jam and geranium. It's balanced and has flavours of peach and orange blossom with a light/medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish.

Opened in am for cooking with crock pot roast. When consuming 8 hours later the wine was a mellow, short finishing $10 bottle of Italian wine that went great with the food. Very different fruit medley on palate...enjoyable.

Not particularly distinctive as Lacrima. Fruity, balanced, and the finish was about the only thing non-generic this time around. I don't know if the floral and other aromatics will come out more with age.

Still sort of an iron fist on the palate, but that will give way over time and this is just a baby. Peppery and bright, delectable cran-cherry fruit and light, fine tannins. Bold acidity. Short to medium length finish, but this is a lovely little Saturday afternoon wine. worked with all kinds of picnic foods. Should age really well over the next 4-5 years. 5+12+16+7 =90

It improved vs. six months ago, losing some of the overpowering floral sweet nose and settling down a bit. A simpler wine, fruity. You just need to find the right food for this one. Seared and glazed pork would probably be a good call. We put it up with a pasta dish with smoked salmon and it worked!

Gabe's. Initial VA blows off quickly leaving a heavy, rosewater perfume that smells like what you might imagine a Tunisian bordello to smell like. Light on the palate, like tomato water. To be fair others enjoyed it, but I hated it.

2 For transparency sake, this is my first Lacrima. None the less, this wine tastes like a clown acts. Boisterous, silly, fantastical, and overdone. I, of course, cannot speak to the integrity to the varietal, though it appears to be representative. Deep, stewed cherry, intense potpourri of flowers and herbs, and a candied zing. Wildly intense. 84 points.

This was terrific! What a fun young wine. I wasn't expecting much for $10 but garagiste delivered again. Fruity but not overwhelmingly so, dynamic, interesting, and an unusual varietal. Give this one a try.

Tasty and similar to the other bottling of this wine I've had from them in the past. Although not quite as flowery and bright in the nose, this version is more earthy and dusty. Nicely balanced, very juicy, not as tannic as the other version as well.
Day 2 it's smoother still, otherwise not that different. Not as nice as the reserve level bottling I had previously, but a solid value still.

Dark Ruby. Bombastic nose of baked blackberry crust. Extremely floral after open for 30 minutes, jasmine. Taste is fruity but backed by minerality that's pleasant. Is there better? Sure. But a fine value.

this wine presents with a big, fresh dollop of fruit, and not much else. it's fine for what it is but lacks the lovely volcanic texture and length i've experienced in other lacrima.

I've never posted here before but felt compelled after drinking a second bottle of this wine. Simply put, it's different and interesting. Worth a try. Ever so slightly astringent, with a strong dose of Violet chewing gum (remember that?) throughout. Somewhat reminiscent of a Beaujolais with more complexity. Slightly cooler than usual serving temperature brings out the character. Enjoy.
Even more than the 2014, this is a love it or hate it wine. Unique flavors (good or bad depending on your palate), huge flavor profile, a real smack to the head. I loved the 2014, but 2015 not my cup of tea.

This would be the house wine on Planet Wine Geek. This does so many things well, and so many different kinds of things well: it really is built like a crowd-pleaser, pouring inky black with fruit concentration to match. But besides that, it's got all the mad Lacrima beauty, with that actually perfume-like perfume, all of that mixed floral bouquet aroma and flavor - rose, lily and iris in particular - with a comparably huge panoply of acidity types, include orange and passion fruit. The mid-palate density is quite good, especially considering this is a $10 wine (!), and the tannins, while present, are unobtrusive. At $10, maybe it should be your house wine too.

$11? should have backed up the truck! intensity and flavor profile reminiscent of an old-vine Toro tempranillo, with rich meaty flavor and plenty of herbal supporting notes. this was crazy good value, and it was cool to try a wine made from such a rare grape.

Disclaimer: You'll either love this wine or hate it. It is so floral and redolent of rose dominated potpourri that I once gave away a bottle as a bouquet of flowers. I happen to fall into the "love it" camp.
This wine is so good the QPR is one of the most ridiculous ratios ever. If you want atypical fare, this is it. Completely floral, like drinking fruited potpourri.
The nose is really quite astonishing. Once you get past the nose, the medium bodied juice has an intensity of flavor comprised of floral notes, garrigue, white pepper, and completely unsweet blackberries and grapes. There is enough acid to carry the day and lift the finish, and enough structure to suggest that there will be a least a few years in the bottle.
Definitely a wine for someone looking for something off the beaten path. For my score loving compatriot(90-91).
