Opened not decanted. Dry and tight. Takes 15-20 minutes of air to open. Dry cherry, some smoke, leather and some dried fruit notes. Starts with harsh tannins that soften. Would be better with food. Consumed without. Fair.

I must have been in a foul mood when I first tasted this wine or maybe some post COVID loss of taste. You might want to disregard my first tasting note. Not much on the nose. It is really a very nice wine for the price. Lots of Cherry up front with a nice balance of tannins and acid. My wife and I enjoyed this bottle.

Managed to keep my hands off this for around a year, but does not seem to have aged much. Still loads of crunchy red and black fruit, with medium tannins and good acidity. Some sweetness underneath but the tannins and acid dominate without food or air. Whoever said this wine was a little hollow was spot on. Will be good with the pasta with ragu.

Similar experience to previous commenters. This needs to sit for a couple of hours in the glass or have a bit of a decant. Dried cherry and acidity for sure. Some spices, tar, smoke and tannin. Well balanced with some compexity. Decent Chianti and easy drinker. I wish I'd caught it on Garagiste for $14. I got mine from Last Bottle for $19 and had to buy 6 to get that price. Hmmm...

The first day, this wine rang very hollow. I thought, oh well, classic '14. Second day it all came together. The color is dark red. Shows very beginning signs of age. Cherry and acidity and spices. Some subtle undertone and tannic texture arrived on the second day. Just enough for it to not be the 1-note wine it was the first night. Overall, not bad. I think I paid around $15. Wouldn't want to pay over $20. Probably wouldn't re-buy unless it was like $10.

Opened not decanted. Poured a 1/4 glass and found it undrinkable. Left on the counter with a new stopper put in for 24 hours. Way much better. Lightweight in body with some smoke, tar notes, dried cherry fruit seems thin. Fair. Note: Pair with food with a really good decant.

opaque red purple, medium plus weight; nose of forest floor, wet rock, plum, black cherry; on the palate nice black cherry fruit, well balanced by acid and minerality, leather, a little tannin, medium mouthfeel. drinks young for its chronological age, I imagine it will last a while, no rush to drink up the rest of the stash.

Wow! Rimmerman undersold this (a first?). Much better than a pizza night wine, a really big open cherry nose, full flavored cherry berry chianti. Punches above it's pay ($14) grade--wish we had more...

Dried herbs, sassafrass, red and black cherry on the nose. On the palate a little lighter with more red fruit, apple skin, and a small hint of baking spice. Medium acid, and medium tannins. Solid Chianti not particularly exciting in any direction.

(opened 2 days ago) - color: dark purple; nose: light oak; taste: medium-bodied mouth feel, rounded red fruit flavor, medium-length finish (slightly chalky) with cola notes and moderate tannins; overall: decent CC with a pronounced Old World verve, drinking well as of March 2020, paired well with stinky cheese and good bread, decent QPR ($14).

Beguiling nose with sandalwood, floral, dried cherry notes. On the light side, high acidity, but fairly well balanced with well integrated tannins. Good QPR from Garagiste at $14. Ready to drink.

Quite good classical Chianti with a touch „modernism“, ie not too much acidity and an oak/vanilla bouquet (not too much though)...very nice. Tannins now well integrated, good to drink now (though this will be surely very nice for the next 3-4 years...). As with most Chianti Classico, this is great with food...why not pasta w/ ragout bolognese?

A blend of Sangiovese (90%), Malvasia Nera, Colorino and Merlot. Aged for 12 months in French oak barriques of which 40% were new. 13,5% alcohol, 5,8 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.
Somewhat translucent ruby red color. Very open, concentrated and nuanced nose with somewhat dark-toned aromas of black cherries, crunchy dark forest fruits, some herbal tones, a little bit of savory spice and a hint of tobacco. The wine is full-bodied, concentrated and chewy on the palate with ripe but not particularly sweet-toned flavors of strawberries, dark plums, black cherries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of tart cranberries, a hint of dark chocolate and a touch of tobacco. The wine shows good structure with its moderately high acidity and firm, rather grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is quite grippy and moderately tannic with bright, crunchy flavors of sour cherries, ripe plums, some juicy strawberries, a little bit of rich oak spice, a hint of tart lingonberries and a touch of leather.
A good, well-proportioned and nicely balanced Chianti Classico. Doesn't offer much character or complexity at this point, but that's because the wine seems just so very young. There's good potential for future development with its ripe fruit, firm structure and balanced use of oak. A nice effort that benefits from air and feels like it really could use some food if opened now. A bit pricey for the style at 25,36€.

Med Bougett with cherries?. Med-Full body with a small sweet touch, although <3g/l suger. Remaining tannins but not unpleasant. Tested with Ch Pineraie 2015 and the frenchman came out a winner because of more personality and dry taste.

Pretty nose of crunchy red fruits with hints of tobacco and charred earth. A solid Chianti that's on the lighter side but is well-balanced with delicious dark cherry fruit and good acidity along with a nice earthy character. Finishes with a nice mineral crunch. Quaffable but not for further aging.

Youthful nose showing red berries and herbal notes. Lots of ripened fruit and austere tannins on the palate that needs more time to integrate. This was an okay showing from Fonterutoli, but I think I'll wait for their next vintage (2015) instead. Best 2019-2024.

Brickred colour with a maturing nose showing cherries, wet soil and a hint leather. Palate shows smoothening tannins with mature notes of leather and a long fruit-filled finish. This was feeling more mature than I had expected, but with lots of fruit and acidity to evolve even further if you want your wine on the more mature side. Can keep for another five years or so.

Rich nose of cocoa, dark fruits and fresh leather. Palate is blue berries, plums, ripe forest fruits. The acidity is a bit jangly and vinegary (VA?), tannins are lacking and so is length.

Mazzei Visit (Castellina-in-Chianti, Tuscany, Italy): Nose: The nose is feminine and delicate with red cherries, spice tones, red fruits, and a touch of wood. The nose is fresh and aromatic, but it lacks some depth.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium tannins. The feel is lithe though the tannins are slightly green along with red cherries, red fruits, and some spice tones.
Overall: This is an early drinking and pretty Chianti Classico. It lacks some depth and definition that would really drive it, but is still quite lovely and more than ready to drink right now.

Amazing Chianti -- actually the 2011 vintage, not 2014, and tasted like it was in the peak of maturity. Well balanced, great bouquet, good alcohol, tannins, flavor balance, went great with pizza although not a "pizza wine" -- too good for that!
Medium+ intensity nose has bright red cherry, fruit forward aromas along with sweet spice notes. The palate is medium+ bodied with nice aroma replays and juicy acids. Balanced long finish.
