10th MW Symposium, Wiesbaden - The day before (Weingut Robert Weil): 13%, 4.8gr rs, 7.4gr acid Keeping the steely mineral profile of the young vintage, pear scented, green apple again, some grassy notes too, lemon leaf, a few dried citrus notes Palate is juicy, smooth, pear, nice apple freshness, lighter body than expected, tart, med finish. Super tasty !!

Friday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Crisp and fresh with a good amount of fruit giving this the sensation of being sweeter than it is. Minerally and bright, but not too complex, and without the weight of a GG, this makes for lighter drinking.

Was better the second day, but not in a way that it revealed something different. I open one of these when I feel like some Riesling trocken masochism. They're getting better and will have a long life but I don't think this well ever be an expansive wine. There's an austerity that's very much to the trocken preferences in Germany.

Seems a little green on the nose at first. Has a bit of that underripe peach thing going on, and overall feels austere and even a little reductive/sulphidey. The acidity on the palate is powerful. Super limey. I like the aromatics the more I look at it. Just a bit steely and not that open for business at the moment.

This is more expressive and delineated than it was 6 months ago. A very good dry Riesling but I feel there are slight limitations to the terroir and what it can become. I'll enjoy this case over several years and not feel guilty for not holding it longer.
Drinking well. Firm and serious but not closed down or unsettled. Has rheingau power but I don't find wines like this to be super mineral-driven. Its power perhaps comes from clean, very ripe quality grapes in very capable hands. Quite fine.

Very nice, young bottle of Riesling. Popped and poured. Started to open in the glass after 30 minutes, but only slightly. Very promising. Needs a couple of years of further cellaring. Rating reflects the current state.

No formal notes - over dinner. Very expressive and pure on the nose: e ripe yellow stone fruit, hints of tropical fruit, crushed stones, herbs, white flowers. Nicely concentrated and balanced on the palate - good fruit, lots of acidity, again very pure and clean. Lots of minerality towards the finish. Impressive and quite approachable. 92-94

On the top, maybe in 1 year … anyway, perfect balance, don’t decant, drink now and during the next 12 month.

Klassischer Rheingauer Riesling. Ist langsam auf dem Höhepunkt.

Fin, hög syra. Lite grön och örtig. En spritsighet man kanske förväntat skulle försvunnit från en 2015 (?). Bra i sin klass.

Powerful and structured, but very closed in. Not especially mineral. Plenty of material but rather charmless now.
