Even despite not holding on to all of its pressure, this was really enjoyable. A strong treacle and honey palate with some peach fruit leather. Acidity was nice and the residual sugar (my guess was 6g/l) helped the wine age perfectly. A perfect condition bottle would be excellent.

OC Wine Dinner (Nesai - Newport Beach, CA): I love almost any kind of Champagne, but there wasn't much to get excited about here and a real disappointment from a vintage perspective. There was a very distinct sparkling cider note to the wine, which fortunately dissipated and evolved into green apples. Very low acidity heightens the perception of red apple sweetness and a slight oxidative note persists through the finish. Decent as a starter wine, but in general lacks depth and interest. 85-86 points.

9/6/08 OC Wine Dinner (Nesai In Newport Beach, CA): Seemed a little dull. I admit, I am not an experienced champagne drinker but it seemed to lack complexity and reminded me more of a Martinelli apple cider than a champagne--not as sweet but that apple flavor.

Bill's wine. Clear bright gold. Much fresher and crisper than the Rare served before it with notes of dried apple, toffee and spice.

Clear bright gold. Dried fruit, lactose, caramel and spice. Dry caramel and dairy flavours and a soft dry finish.
Hanging on.

Really excellent toasty, focused champagne. A stellar value.
