Very reduced and with high acid. Lots of balsamic qualities, with hints of garrigue, spice, and red fruits. Fruits evolved more with air, but I was hoping for more with this. I would have pegged this as Grenache before Syrah, zero white pepper and not much in the way of personality.

Abit of Bret, reserved dark fruit and dirt. Simple, not alot of depth but a nice example of what northern rhone can be at a very reasonable price point. Med bodied and needed a couple of hours in the decanter.

I smelled a dirt clod when I first opened the bottle, and was very excited! Decanted for 30 minutes. Some brambly earthiness here, a nice dark color, and good minerality. It faded after 40 minutes in the glass and tasted bland. On the second night it tasted great again. This is a distinctive wine, and a solid value. I would rather drink this than most Cabernets on the market.

Abit of bret, a hint of caramel and some moderately forward blackberry. The tannins are very soft. A very nice, simple St. Joseph and a pretty good qpr.

Syrahs and other Rhone varietals (Roberts House): black pepper and brisket dominate the nose and flavor profile here with some black fruit behind it. i love brisket, so found it delicious, even if a bit simple. more like what i expect from a grenache, but with lighter tannins. a little bit watery with a med (-) finish.

We decanted this wine for about 4 hours before drinking it.... but still lots of dark cherry, earthiness, well-rounded and soft tannins for such a young wine. Give this one a few years and it will be spectacular.

Initial tasting verified wine was being drank too young. Pretty rough but changed quickly to cherry flavors after some oxidation. Should have decanted.

Blueberry nose. Fresh, lean mid-palate gives high drinkability. A bit dry finish. Really nice uncomplicated St Joseph.

Rhone Varietal Tasting (Our House (2033 Brandywine St., Philadelphia)): Overshadowed by other wines on this night. Black pepper, candied cherry and minerals on nose and palate. A bit watery on palate. Thin without the structure Nose better.

Nice, easygoing fruit-driven (raspberries) clean wine for now or the next few years. Good.

Flavor was what you expected from a nice Saint Joseph wine. Nice smooth Syrah wine, not heavy on tannins, very drinkable even though it is a 2005.
