70 Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Drinks like a 100 dollar bottle at 9 years young. Dark Cabernet fruits with bright red fruit and acidity from the Sangiovese. The posh oakville-esque fruit meets mountain ruggedness and nuance - 100% Prichard Hill done the correct way.

Pop and pour for pizza night with the neighbors. Great fruit, soft tannins and a perfect pair. Turned several people into buyers of this, especially at the typical wine slash price of $40/bttl

Nose is very floral, dominated by lavender but with lots of background notes. Flows very lightly across the pallet with some earthy notes. Is it a drink on its own, and is always very good with Italian foods.

SEE prior notes - even better with more age. Dark fruits still come forward, but now a little more herb and spice notes follow. Finish is 20-30 seconds.

Drank 1/2 the bottle 2 nts ago and gassed off. These notes are from the balance.
We really enjoy the Sangiovese component of this, and appreciate the depth and complexity afforded by the barrel program and traditional Napa varietals. Our go-to wine with pizza or chicken with an Italian preparation

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), plum and nutmeg. It tastes like blackberry and black currant (cassis). The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

Drank at La Grotta in Atlanta. 10 min decant. Fruity on the nose. Soft and tasty with a perfect balanced finish. It disagreed with my fillet with Gorgonzola but was happy with all other items that were served.

This is the first DAV wine we purchased in many years, though we’ve got great memories of raucus 5 hour tastings w David. This bottle was purchased to celebrate the inauguration of our home pizza oven.
As noted by others the Sangiovese component is clearly evident, adding a soft sweetness. Sampled out of several different stems for comparison, this was best from a standard cab-merlot glass (makes sense given that this is 70% cab) however the tighter mouth of a syrah stem added some chalky tannin and made the wine seem more dry and less fruity, if that’s tour preference.
All in all, a great wind that lives up to its name and would pair well with any Italian food.

Drinking great right now. The Sangiovese really comes through and perfectly balances the cab, cab franc, and petit Verdot (which is an especially nice touch here. Well done.

Clean wine with notes of Plum and earth on the nose. Decanted for 2 hours. Soft tannins with good acidity. Fairly high achohol but not over bearing, initial notes are a soft palate with a taste of cooked plum with chocolate and white pepper, some oaky vanilla flavours but good balance. Medium body with a good long finish. Interesting blend of Cab and Sangiovese with Petit Verdot and a touch of Cab Franc. An enjoyable wine.

New oak & vanilla on the nose, dark fruit and smooth tannins. I put this in a decanter for about an hour before serving. As the wine warmed a bit in the glass, some rich cocoa flavors developed on the back end. A really good bottle right now.

Beautiful deep ruby color, earthy nose with plum and dark cocoa on the palate. The 4 varietals combine to deliver a long, silky finish. Will be interesting to see how the wine evolves in coming years. I would have guessed this was an older vintage.

Just what you want with a casual meal like pizza or burgers; still plenty of fruit and spice. Balanced; no edges. 8 years old and going strong.
