Lovely drinker after an hour decant. Lots of fruit up front. Smooth finish sure to the merlot. Muted tannins which faded over the next hour. Starting to decline. Drink now.

As always, a typical Peju that does not disappoint. The blending of the Cabernet and Merlot just works! Did not decant and enjoyed right away. This bottle did not last more than two hours.

A big bold Napa Valley creation that unashamedly eschews the old world. Don’t dare open this one now if you aren’t prepared for a tannic blast from this 50% CS and 50% merlot dreadnaught. After several hours of air, this showed as a complex full bodied wine, displaying a gamut of flavors: herbs, pepper, tabbacco, leather, anise, with loads of dark fruit, currant and cherry. Ample oak joins the party (vanillin). Tannins are chewy at this early date, but they’re not in the austure class. At 15.3%, a massive wine indeed, though not offputtingly jammy or gawdy. In five to ten years, one could imagine this resolving into something with more finesse and elagance. But I would not purchase this one and wait for that—it simply doesn’t pretend to play by such rules. A great selection for those wanting a big California red to accompany a rich hardy savory meal, steak or BBQ. This one will make an impression at any table or tasting lineup.

The wine was great right out of the bottle, but after a couple hour decant it was even better. Very nice balance on this wine.
