rich and potent. bit of dried fruit on the nose on opening, but still lots of dark cherry and robust tobacco. Would have cellared longer I think, but my last bottle. A mouthful of suave and satisfying red from a producer that knows elegance.

Deep opaque purple with slight bricking at the edges. A very expressive and interesting bouquet of wet dirt and bubble gum. Palate has blueberrries, blackberries, eucalyptus, baking spices, tobacco and mushroom ragout. Full body. High acidity. Gritty tannins. Very long finish. This is a fantastic wine with lots of everything (good fruit, earth, acidity and tannins) despite an age deemed out of peak. A superb Tuscan wine that is still going strong.

Dark toned nose with rather ripe fruit from black cherries to strawberries. Perfume, liquorice, blood and roasted oak. Full bodied and concentrated ripe fruit palate with considerable tannic grip and carrying acidity. Tobacco, blood and cigar box. Some rubber character as well. Long finish. A disappointment. Over-ripe and lacking freshness.

Very deep, nice mid-age colour. Very intense nose with slightly dried sweet black cherries, sandalwood, moderately exotic, quite ripe. Full body, concentrated, very dark fruit on the palate with refreshing acidity and spicy minerality. Quite tannic, slightly rustic (or rather classic). Big, strong, and very well balanced for the vintage. Very long aftertaste with black berries and spice.

Underripe red cherries mixed with earthy red fruit; red tangy cherries flavors dominate with grainy, moderate tannins and still fairly youthful tannins, Shortish finish.

Decanted for two hours. Medium-full black to ruby red color, clear with a tiny amount of sediment. Powerful and slightly hot on the nose (14,5 % abv) with dark cherries, liquorice, earth, tobacco and youthful acidity. I liken the overall impression more to a Brunello or a traditional Chianti than a Super-Tuscan. Medium-bodied and balanced on the palate, the tannins are still quite strong. Not a crowd–pleaser but will definitely satisfy friends of the style. Decant and enjoy now or try medium-term cellaring. 92+

Sour cherries give way to violet overtones. Some saddle leather and tobacco comes through. Really reminds me of a Brunello more than a supertuscan from the heart of chianti rather than the typical found at the coast near Bolgheri.

Classic Tuscan black cherry and dark fruits, with great acidity and some herbal notes. Some soft tannins remaining. Very drinkabable now, especially after getting a bit of air, but seems like it could have several years left.

Taste of dark fruits - blueberry/ cherry, earth, slight spice, slight anise. Still decent tannins. Not a long finish - but lingering. Well integrated. Enjoyable.

Another gathering on the island (66 Mouton, Lascombes, Musar, and photos...) (Scott Worcester's in Southwest Harbor, ME): What a brute...This was a deep violet in the glass, almost opaque at the core. Scents of grilled meats, earth, funk, and dark fruits open up over time in the glass. In the mouth there are still plenty of tannins, in this medium bodied red as flavors of dark fruits, blueberries, and spice roll across the palate on a medium length finish. For the heat of 2003 this is very well crafted and there is only a hint of heat at the tail end of the finish that limits this wine ever so slightly...it is still amazing!

Rich, polished and full of energy. Dark fruits, soya sauce, thyme, lively acidity, long cleansing finish. Very enjoyable!
