Much better than the last bottle I had. I agree with others here that the oak is overwhelming. I would give this 90+ if they toned down the oak. Nice tropical fruits in the background. Smooth and creamy. Nice weight on the palate. Not thin at all like the previous bottle I had. Good finish. Great deal at $14 a bottle.

Very disappointing. Maybe a bad bottle. I usually like this wine but this time it was thin, no fruit, and tasted like water, acid, and a bit of lemon flavor.

Sat, 4/14/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 100% sur lie aged for 6 mos, barrel aged in 25% new AM & FR oak barrels; "Malolactic fermentation also took place to add softness, balance, & depth." 14% ABV, 0.55 g/100 ml T.A., & 3.45 pH.
N: Slightly closed; Butter/vanilla, but with at least SOME restraint?
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish OAK/frt decently balanced by acidity which PRETTY much carries through the LONG, nicely balanced, pleasant finish where no one thing sticks out. VERY nicely done for now & likely through '19. My VG+/EXC-. [This vendor's $14.95 is near the bottom of the upper quartile of wine-searcher's listings.]

Excellent reasonably priced Chardonnay without the excessive oaky/buttery flavors of some California Chards. Refreshing with mussels appetizer and complementary with trout dinner.

I have enjoyed this wine previously, but found this bottle was really acidic and over oaked. BLAH! I threw it out after a few sips. I hope it was just a one off!

I used this cooking Gumbo on 12/1/17 and drank the left over. It had an expressive bouquet of lemon, pear, butterscotch and spice aromas. The palate was rich, and creamy with flavors that followed the nose.

Good bottle development - citrus flavors hold true with decent balance. Good food wine, not oakey. Medium bodied, medium lingering finish. True to varietal but not unique to area.

From memory, two days later: ok, I think I have this wine down now after 3 consecutive vintages: drink it as young as possible and only when you're in the mood for oak. The fruit here is good, the oak is in-your-face but not offensive, and, at least when very young, the acidity gives it enough backbone to make it a good, reliable QPR. In a crowded arena full of disappointments, it's a reliable pick. $15

color: medium yellow; nose: mild oak, lightly floral; taste: medium-bodied mouth feel, soft on palate, apple and Asian pear taste, medium-length finish with delightful mineral notes, light tannins with a hint of butterscotch at the end; overall: perky, balanced and mature, interesting from start to finish, no sugary sloppiness, should pair well with light-fleshed baked fish or sauteed scallops, decent value at $14/bottle, will buy again
