Medium ruby in the glas. Red currant, strawberry and cherry dominating on the nose. Some oak evolving after a few minutes. Dry. Nice acidety. Vivid fruit. Concentrated red berries, vanilla and some earthy-notes on the palate. Smooth, but stringent tannins. Long, fresh exit with vanilla. Elegant, fruity and delicious 🍷

Nose of cherries, cranberries, and a little toasty oak. More of the same on the palate with a nice streak of wet slate. Lots of juicy acidity. Tannins are powdery and resolved. A little heat on the back end. An enjoyable wine for those who like Sonoma Coast Pinot.

PnP, Intense nose of cherry, rhubarb, and red fruits. On the palate this is a big wine for Littorai with the fruit being a bit over-balanced by the acidity and structure. Needs time as others have noted. Should be better tomorrow. Day 2 - must more melded together though still quite a big Littorai lacking the elegance that the SVDs have.

This wine is quite wound-up. Clearly needs air time. Liked it more after about 30 minutes when the tight pinot flavors let loose -- at least a little bit. Flavors of rhubarb, sour watermelon, cherry, red apple, and perfume. It's all quite structured, acting more like a vineyard designated wine, in some respects, than a broader coastal red. Needs another two to three years of rest, though I suspect it will remain a bit angular.
(Served with hamburgers, skillet potatoes, and beans; all from the grill.)

Showing very well at this young age. Effusive nose, medium-minus bodied. Impeccable balance, light on its feet, long juicy finish. This will clearly evolve for many years, but couldn’t keep my hands off...

A little disappointing considering the pedigree. I admit, I've been spoiled over the years with some of the all time best C-noirs ever coming from this winery. This one is all nose (as in WOW) but then the rest of the follow through is flat. Ok mid-palate and short finish but nothing special. Other reviewers warned of this as well. At $70 not a particularly strong buy anymore if you run across an aged bottle.

We happened to open this bottle at true room temperature and so, way too warm for my preference (of the past 6-7 yrs). But/and I really enjoyed the pronounced macerated Strawberry aromatics; something that I admit is muted if not absent at low/lower temps. Of course, I returned it to the fridge, which confirmed the above. An extra point for the aromatics that I’ve been admittedly missing.

Consistent notes and opinion, to previous bottles. This Sonoma Coast has a tad brighter fruit than the Les Larmes. It’s been a while since I’ve had any of their higher level bottlings and so, am looking forward to Pickup event next week.

Very similar notes to last bottle but this one a bit more disjointed, with tart acidity and jagged edges. Perhaps I’m drinking too young and time will bring it all together.

just lovely. tasted the 2016 version at the winery over the weekend and found it to be a lovely wine, ready to go, but lacking in depth next to the vineyard designates (duh).
decided to open its older sister without the side-by-side comparison last night - what a lovely wine. medium-light body, plenty of acidity, a touch of savory herb, enough roundness of fruit to carry it without burdening it. again lacks the depth of SVD's but as a solo drinker it's wonderful.

red berry aromas and flavors with savory spice and hints of minerality accompanying good acidity on finish. Prob better in another year, still overall elegant and nicely balanced.

Consumed over 2 days without much evolution. A decent amount of extract, good but tart acid. Tannins are rustic at this point. A nice kiss of oak. 89-90

Though slightly disjointed at this stage, it possesses all the necessary parts to making this a a more formidable offering, as it comes together with age. Juicy, bright raspberry and pomegranate on entry, with mild salinity and slightly tart acid. Finish is medium-long; similarly bright & juicy.

Littorai Release Party (Littorai, Sonoma): Dark, black cherry. Something interesting and mushroomy that almost gives an impression of Brett (something similar). Slight impression of herbaceous notes and black pepper. Medium minus tannins - still a bit papery/drying.
