  • Rich cassis and blueberry. The wine has years to go with ample fruit.

  • 2016 Myriad Elysian, 2016 Myriad Empyrean, 2015 Schrader To Kalon, 2015 Schrader GIII

Less candied than the 2015 GIII but just as spouting and party-rocking, the To Kalon is saved from the Vegas cocktail world by way of a nice injection of Oakville soil and darker-fruited blackberry and black raspberry flavors. Otherwise, the red fruit spends most of the time taking a front seat and doing everything it can to spark the flavor hound sensors of the palate. Vanilla and cedar come to the party, shortening the finish a bit. Still working some things out. Hit this up in a few years in hopes it sheds some of the vanillin booze and develops some additional nuance.

  • No notes. Decant for a few hours tasted along the way. Nice wine, beautiful cassis, minerals but a bit too sweet and a very short finish.
