This was about the same as I remember from 2014 but seemed even more open and more complex with a meatier under tone. Tough to imagine wine much better than this.

Upon first smell I thought this was La Tache. There was so much Hoisin, beef stock, black tea and grated ginger on the nose. In the mouth it is full, sweet and ethereal. It has excellent volume and really fans out on the finish. Leroy made superb ‘00’s and this is a beauty.

Took three hours to open up. Initially very muted on the nose. It then splashes out with spice, herb, berries, perfume and red currant. The wine opened up in the glass. The fruit is forward, sweet and alluring. Palate is expressive and silky but slightly lean for a Leroy grand cru. Give it at least 5 more years. This is still too young to unfold it's layers.

Excess: Bottle #0180. This is pretty damn amazing. Stunning, soaring aromatics here - an intoxicating perfume of ripe red fruits, kirsch, violets, high toned herbal notes, and more savoury stemmy and earthy notes that keep emerging and evolving with air. I kept a glass of this to follow through most of the dinner, and the aromatics just kept getting better. The palate is just as impressive - immensely ripe and fruit-forward, yet showing tons of complexity and depth with a beautiful silken palate presence, and amazing length.

Burgundy dinner at Grace (Grace Chicago): Another fantastic bottle of Leroy Corton Renardes. Full on Leroy nose with intense spice along with red, black and blue fruits. All of this carried through to the open and expansive and highly nuanced palate. Powerful and elegant this was a real pleasure and a great example of a wonderful 2000 Grand Cru. This will improve, but is delicious today.

Great Burgundy Dinner (Grace - Chicago IL): While I truly enjoyed the Leroy CdlR flight, this wine stood out as my favorite Leroy tonight. Perhaps not when first poured and it came across as ripe and "fun," but more more time in glass it lengthened and spice came front and center. It was nicely balanced to start, but that balance remained impressive as this wine picked up weight and density with more air. Good now, better in the future.

Drank at dinner with neighbors at home. Opened bottle 2 hours before serving and decanted 1 hour before serving. Cork showed some signs of crumbling in the middle but the seal at the bottom appeared to be intact.
Deep ruby color. Nose was not pronounced. Very well balanced balance of tannins with notes of black fruit. Drinking well. Very much enjoyed this wine.
Bought in '11 at Rick Bayless' dinner and silent auction to benefit Frontera Farmer Foundation. Would definitely enjoy drinking this wine again but given its price point am unlikely to be buying it again.
This was bottle no. 187 of 1464 bottles. It's interesting to note that CellarTracker users have input 54 bottles. It appears that CellarTracker users own 3.7% of this vintage.

Dark garnet in color, very deep floral nose with red fruit, slight red tea. Medium plus palate that is ripe and full yet feeling light on its feet. Very fine tannins at the end. Nobody could have guessed this is from Beaune, very elegant and fine. Drinking well now but still with the power to keep.

Although it was quite exceptional I wish I wouldn't have drunk it. At the prices it commands I just don't quite feel right drinking a Domaine Leory Grand Cru. Oh well, its down the gullet anyway.
For 2000 vintage, or really for any vintage, rather young showing lots of rustic tannin and probably some of the most fruit driven aromatics I have ever had from a Leroy wine. Simply amazing, maybe I will wait another five years for the next bottle. Delicious.

This is wild, woolly wine. A breathless expression of what no holds barred winemaking can achieve with pinot from Grand Cru terroir. We were utterly blow away by its sheer power and strutting confidence. Lots of well-knit flavors and the nose absolutely attacked you. But still, the grace and elegance of Burgundy... Utterly unique flavor profile -- iron and leather, but rich, rich black fruit sweetness. Plenty of acidity; this wine should last a very long time. Loved it!

Winestreet Does Leroy (WA Frost, St. Paul): Animal fur, beef, and blood. With some air, this picked up some interesting iron/mineral notes. Rustic. I'm not a big fan of red Corton, but this seemed a bit wild and wooly.

Winestreet Tastes an Abundance of Leroy: I need to confirm that we didn't have the domaine version. A very small pour (I think there was only one bottle for the group). This didn't show well to me at all. The nose is a clean and simple expression of cranberry/cherry. In the mouth this came across as thin and acidic with a disappointing finish.
