Jason & Simon's Village Burgundy Tasting Dinner (67 Pall Mall): mmm mmm mmm - this is more like it, pale colour, lovely nose hint of lemon, hint of grass, some flintiness. Would this pass for more than a Villages wine? Not sure but definitely lovely stuff - my #3 WOTN.

Village Burgundy from Good Producers (67 Pall M): Clean, bright, long and elegant. Some lemon oil on the nose. Palate is racy, pure and slatey. What a treat. Top notch stuff. With air at the end of the evening this has not faded one iota. There is a layer of subtle florality too.

Jason's Village Burgundies II (67 Pall Mall): Very pale yellow, much lighter than the age might suggest. Starts with a lovely subtle reduction, this is crisp and inviting. The wine is in absolutely tip-top shape, fabulously tense and precise, with stem ginger and citrus peel dominating at first. I left some in the glass for a while, and after an hour this has grown in stature, the air and some warmth has lessened the reduction and the sweet fruit (in the very dry white wine sense of sweet) is poking out alongside a certain nuttiness. I would have liked to spend the evening with the whole bottle! My #2 WOTN.

Village Burgundy: Pale straw. Fresh, limey, floral with lovely restrained white fruit. Beautifully elegant with a nicely reductive gun flint undertone. Quite lean and elegant for the vintage. This restores faith. Classic Leflaive hazelnut nose develops with air. Really very lovely. Village weight and length, but top villages. ****

One of the great White Burgundy wines. Chalky honeysuckle nose. Rich honey and sweet fruit. Melon and roast pineapple coming through. A great matured wine. Had with some prosciutto and mushroom pasta.

Leflaive 2015 are expressive and flirtatious, unlike the tight and ultra-reductive 2014, which will require extensive cellaring. Tasted blind - Leesy toast with good reduction. Smartly toasted and energetic, textured tree fruits and ripe citrus with modern touch of new oak. Very fresh and bright with a good body, 2015 characteristics. Lovely. Pierre Boisson? Meursault? 2015? (88/100)

Drinking great now. Needed some time to open up but when it did it showed all the richness coupled with structure that I love from good Puligny. Obviously did not have the depth or structure of the grand cru Puligny but as a village wine it is a BUY.

Classic Leflaive. Young and strong. Lots of lees, nuts, lemons, savory citrus fruits. White and yellow flowers. Great balance and finesse in this wine even at its young age. Love these young white Burgs. Great now and should have the make up to last.

Musique & Vin Pre-Concert Dégustation (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting, brief note. So rich and ripe with good weight, so certainly enjoyable. This comes across as slightly top-heavy and almost flabby. I frankly preferred the wonderful Bourgogne, that succeeds completely at not trying to be more than it can.

Although Leflaive has provided some of my most transcendent wine experiences - I hate to say it but I'm not a fan of this particular bottle. While the nose is pretty with some stone fruit and sweet wild flowers, a whiff of chlorine is distracting. Certainly well made and texturally nice. But, as a value proposition - I'd rather drink 5 bottles of Macon or save my pennies for Pucelles.
I have one more - will try again in a couple years for more depth.
