  • Along came this beautiful wine off the list of Parcelles in Paris and one could not say no. In general white wines are an arbitrage in the city of lights.
A beautiful wine as expected, maybe some decanting is not a bad idea but we didn’t decant, and has all the hallmarks of beautiful top end Chablis. Limes, salinity, flinty side and full on mineral . But one but cannot admire the elegance here which we will take away as our little souvenir for this wine experience. An easy 96 and with a lot of life ahead of it , if of course comes from a good wine cellar.

  • Great acidity, plenty of lime zest, a lot of saline. Interesting vegetal notes of Fennel. Only nit is I wanted to taste more terroir/stoniness.

  • Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Les Clos 2015
    Trenger mye luft.

  • Park Avenue Fine Wines - Portland: Legacy Pour flight: Light gold color. Complex and beguiling aromas of green pear and lime zest, melted stone, fresh white and rose florals, gingerbread and nutmeg spices, along with hints of earth-forest. Firm on the attack, moving to roundness and elegance as it goes. Expressive and seamless in its flavors, zesty fruit with layers of savory mineral and subtle spice depth. Refined and lithe, yet very dense and serious, with bright and vibrant high tones. Loads of complexity on the finish.

  • This opens with a flinty, fresh nose, showing white fruit and a touch of oak. The palate is notably concentrated and tightly coiled - there is a lot of substance here. The ripeness of the year comes through, but all is supported by a backbone of fresh acid and crisp minerality. This is drinking well in a very youthful way, but time will reward the remainder of my bottles.

  • Les Clos Dauvissat 2015, not bad as far as first Dauvissat ever lol. The wine is crystalline with such purity of fruit and well accentuated acid where the wine is able to deliver the most perfect texture with such stride and confidence. Truly what one of the greats in the white wine world. Can only image how this will develop with given time. Still very young but a pleasure none the less.

  • Oyster shell, citrus, soft florals, lemongrass, quince and cool tropical fruit. Good depth, great concentration, but need a lot more age to tell. 93+

  • Long lunch with Martinborough winemakers (Martinborough, NZ): Served blind. Obvious flinty reduction on opening. Spices, citrus, oyster shell and some pineapple notes on bouquet. In the mouth, this wine seemed to be a Chablis with Grand Cru volume and power. It seemed quite developed, I was thinking it was about six or seven years of age. Chablis typical acidity and granite minerality. Serious structure. However, on the day, I preferred the Raveneau. On the reveal, I was surprised how accessible this 2015 Les Clos was already. I wondered about longevity but Larry said “it seems quite advanced already but don’t be surprised if it ‘sits there’ for many years”. A bit of a question mark but, of course, it's so young it deserves the benefit of the doubt.

  • Visit to Domain Vincent Dauvissat-2015 Chablis (Chablis, France): Forward, high toned floral and orange oil scents. Round, rich citric entry complicated by iodine and oyster shell. Acidity seems average and definitely lower than in the Preuses. Soil runs through the mid-palate and carries through to a long, dusty finish that brings the wine to an abrupt finish. Already complex, but not as powerful or energetic as it can be, but it is still very early to fully judge this.
