Light straw gold in colour. On the nose leaning more towards the melon and stone fruit realm, with an overlay of sea air, florals, fresh drawn butter and a hint of matchstick providing further interest. On the palate, intensity is high, with excellent cut for the vintage. Finish is very long, lingering with stone fruit, dried flowers, lemon curd, and mineral. Stylistically, this is too tropical and buttery for me, but the quality is there.

Top White Burgundy – Montrachet & friends (Zoom!): Really big wine. Very deep and surprisingly mature - seems a touch oxidised but there is still energy and this impression abates with air. Loads of flavour. Cream and nuts, and bitter dry extract. Group WOTN

Joseph Drouhin dinner. From Magnum. Served next to a very strong 1er Chassagne Morgeot (served in DMG) which gave this a run for the money. Initially closed and not much better than the 1er, but with 1h of aeration it started to show its pedigree. Denser, more aromatic and with longer finish. Very classic proportions even though 2015 was a warmer year. Great wine.
Aromas of lemon, candied nut, mineral and touch of tropical fruit. Flavors of tropical fruit, mineral, banana, lemon and hint of lime. Ends with a fabulous finish of 40 seconds with mineral and nut notes. Nothing like a Montrachet.

Smells of Pine Lime Splice, white peach and oyster shell. It is ripe but beautifully put together and possesses quite a cool feel. Flavours quietly build and finish with real authority.

Orchard fruit. Very ripe. Green and yellow apple. Stone fruit and lots of mineral. Definitely has a high breed density and weight, even at this super young age. Some wood spice, but mild. Quite rich still. Nose really isn’t that complex but the palate is complete. Have to mark it up to youth but had hoped for a little more out of this. Medium staying power and finish. Nose gains with time. Palate is pithy, lemon citrus. I am a really bad judge of wines this young. 91 performance right now, can’t imagine more than 93 in time.

New York Wine Experience 2018 (New York Marriott Marquis): Such potential, however not even close to being in the perfect window for drinking. An array of beautifully balanced citrus, tropical fruits, nutmeg, baking spice, and butter. This is a true Montrachet in its youth. I would love the chance to try this again in 15 years

Acker 2019/11 (Valcluse): Surprisingly good and complete profile, delicate spicy finish with a touch of precise salinity. Very rounded. 93

quite a muscular Montrachet - surprisingly ready to drink now - a little fatter than other vintages, great length
