Stylish, bright, youthful but closed. Look vibrant, cherry red in the glass. Lovely flavoured cherry and dark fruit, leather and warm spices but didn’t release its fruit. Like an elegant beauty just having a bad night - all the promise was there.

Once again superb. Great fruit and structure. Quite deep and dark for a burgundy. Blackberries, dark cherries and plum with a little leather and mushroom. Ageless in its initial presentation in the glass. Very good.

88-89 (+?) pts

Decantado 3 horas. Color morado oscuro muy brillante. Aroma profundo, polifacetico y perfumado de alta complejidad, ciruela, cerezas, melocotón, fruta negra ligeramente licorosa, tierra mojada, tabaco rubio. Aroma encantador y esplendido.

Medium plus nose of cherry, earth, and a pine/herbal note perhaps from stems. Above average complexity and length which improved with aeration/decanting/mouth swishing. Good acid/tannin structure to age well and stand up to rich meaty meals. Glad I have more to watch this evolve. Drink or hold 10+ years.

Special lunch party - best of Australia vs France (Ravensdale Farm): Right up there in WOTN running. Beautiful power and structure. Cherry meets dark fruits. Great depth and coomplexity. Plenty of youthful tannin. Warming spice and drying spices. Really very special. This wine rarely lets me down.

Super good this, but a bit young, exposing a lot of intensity at the moment. Needs some bottle time to mellow out and turn its sails to elegance and refinement. Now, you will taste a lot of acid and fruit concentration, even oak, straight to your face. Give it time.

CNY Wine Night @ Chef Kang: Cherries, blueberries, raspberries, some wood and spices. This is youthful with nice acidity. Enjoyable and should improve with time.

Tasting of Bouchard Père Premier and Grand Cru Wines (Beaune, France): Fragrant citrus, restrained ripeness, soil, and cooler green tones than the prior 2015's. Light to medium body, crisp, tart red fruit again with a strong dose of citrus, outstanding acidity, and a saline, stony finish. I love the fruit/soil interplay here. Seems very likely to close down given its particular structure.

Oh mon dieu! What a nose! I could live in that glass just hanging out on a hammock strung from the rim. It's got a nose I can't quite place, but it smells of summer. I can smell and feel the summer heat as if it were around me heating up leaves, soil, wild herbs and dense earthy fruit. Cherries of all kinds could be picked out. It had a godly texture, crazy complex palate with all kinds of notes that might stick around years from now. Maybe worth the $150?

Tasting at the cellars; big ripe, liqueur like fruit on the nose; currants and black raspberry, some floral notes; a hint of wood and menthol; the palate has very good concentration and is powerfully structured; this should be excellent in 10 years.

The nose is quite spicy, with notes of sarsaparilla, aniseed and Chinese 5 spice powder. Fruits is deep, dense and luscious, vacillating between red and black. It is full and generous with excellent depth and a long finish flecked with minerals. Should live for a very long time.

Henriot 2015 Burgundy Tasting (City Winery Chicago): Brief note, trade tasting. Red fruits, deep floral aromatics with excellent poise and a lengthy finish with pronounced baking spice. Truly excellent with lots of upside from here.

Drank up against the '13 and '15 . consensus was that this was more fruit than terroir driven. Crowd fave was '13 ... more elegant and complex
