Bennora Comes to Town! Many Syrahs are Had! (DeeCee): A good but not great bottle here. Came off as a bit thin and muted. The oily texture was there, but not nearly as much aromatics or flavors as my typical experience with this wine. Nothing wrong with it, but the 2014s blew this out of the water. Hoping it’s a dumb phase or something.

Opened took a sip and it was the same result as I had last November. Perhaps I did not store them properly or they were just off bottles. The nose was fine with scents of white flowers. The palate was dominated by melon with a slight tinge of oxidation coming through. Tried one more sip twenty minutes later and had the same result. So I changed my swordfish recipe for the evening and used the wine in the sauce. So no rating on the wine but it helped make a great sauce.

So here I am two years since my last tasting. The wine is still so creamy and yet still so forward with fruit & acidity. Worth holding and letting this bomb fully develop in another 3-5 years. Flavors remain apricot dominant.

This could have been an off bottle as it was not doing it for us last night. Perhaps the food pairing hurt it as I paired with a seared tuna loin in a wasabi sauce which we had as an appetizer. The wine was kind of flat more melon than anything and could not stand up to the food.. So when it came time for the main course we switched to a chardonnay.

A fine rendition of the White Coat. Honeydew, stone fruits, chamomile and orange blossom. Nutty flavors in the finish. Opens with time in the glass. Drink now. Worth Seeking Out.

Read other's notes and decanted about an hour before drinking- really nice wine. Not being familiar with Roussanne and Grenache Blanc, I will say there was some minerality, and stone fruit.

2015 Turley horizontal, 10 Zins and a White Coat. Started off with this, instead of at the end, where we normally drink our token white. Straw gold, crisp nose of citrus and pears, a bit of cantaloupe. Round and smooth palate, lots going on, typical White Coat. Long finish. Most at the table loved it.

This bottle was more impressive. I brought it to the BB tasting after havin SO'd for an hour, very creamy & some thought that it must contain some oaked chardonnay in the blend (wrong); delicious & ready to drink. It may age, but why wait?

Delicious although a challenging wine to fit into any specific category. Great dark gold color, oak, medium body but a little oily. Somewhere between Chardonnay and aged white Rioja. (my wife isn't a chard fan and enjoyed this so there's that). Overall very enjoyable and glad I bought the 2016. Yet another win from Turley.

This is a really unusual wine. I can't think of a category it really fits into. It comes off as relatively flat and dull. With the flavor profile, it feels like there should be more acidity. But its not round, not crisp, not fruity. It just sort of has this weird nose of paraffin. It didn't taste bad, just not much to recommend it. We left some in the bottle and came back to it an hour later and it was warmer and this did seem to help. We originally served at cellar temp (~55) and it probably warmed to closer to 65-70 and this revealed more of a roundness with softer texture. That would be my recommendation for drinking this wine -- give it some air and don't serve it too cold. Either way, for all the other great stuff Turley makes, this won't be one we buy again

Fun comparison to the Carlisle Derivative if only because of them being fun whites from venerable Zin/heavy red houses. This one leans more into oak and oiliness, with significant roundness in the mouthfeel.

Similar impressions to my last tasting. Tonight the wine was more melancholy than the last tasting. Really strong apricot nut aroma and also apricot flavor. The wine is not going to make it (in peak form) to 2 more years. Drink now

Similar impression to previous bottle with Roussanne showing prominently. White peach, floral and waxy notes with higher pH than I’d like. Could use a better acidic snap.

For a blend it is slightly dry and mineral based. Very smooth approach fresh but not acidic. Very Mild grapefruit and pear on back end with medium finish. Very drinkable.

The 2015 version of the White Coat shows lemon balm and lanolin in the nose. Flavors are dry and lean, bitter citrus peel, slate, and a hint of lime in the finish. Okay.
Delightful and similar to the 2014 vintage. Great balance, without excess ripeness and without any particular notes being overwhelming. I could use more of such blends in my cellar. Likely to only improve with a year or two of age.

Quite restrained with very muted and creamy notes. Apricot nut and a waxy mouthfeel. I think this needs a little bottle time. It has the acidity to age. While it is in the background, it is there and I believe the wine will evolve over the next 2 years. Hold and do not drink !

Didn't take notes but this was good to very good, with a fuller body, nice nutty and subtle fruit notes. Lower acidity but everything is in balance.

Sophisticated Rhône blend led by an in-check Roussanne that just keeps you wanting more. Green apple, pear, a hint of honey.
