Cork saturated throughout. Came out in several pieces, but did come out. Initial pour showed slight bricking, but still clear light ruby color to the center. Nose upon pouring was extremely funky, but blew off after a few minutes in glass. Still showing red fruits on the nose, but more restrained than a younger vintage (obviously). Palate showed a touch of sour, but this also dissipated with time. This started to go south after being open about 30 minutes, so I left it alone thinking it was good while it lasted. Picked up another glass with dinner of grilled chicken, and it was sublime. This was like riding a roller coaster. A lovely trip in the time machine to a vintage before my time on this list.
This was a pop and pour, but really blossomed after about 20 minutes of air. Lemon oil and a touch of butterscotch/oak on the nose and palate. Finish is lengthy and in balance. Obviously no hurry here. 93+
