Domaine Barge Cote-Rotie 2015 Cote-Brune. Traditional made ( maybe it's the first vintage of Julien Barge, I didn't know if it's correct). Dark red color, brambleberry, black currant and pepper in the nose. Well structured tannins with some black raspberry in the mouth. Nice acidity and overall accessible at the moment. Remember it's young ! For a Cote-Brune sure not a blockbuster. I will compare it with the cote-blonde this week.
Cheers !

1 hr in the decanter. Approachable now with all primary flavors and aromas - smoked meats, red and black fruits. Tannins were polished and not too firm for its age. A nice preview into things to come. 2025 onward should provide optimal drinking.

The Real McCoy - this stinks of Côte Brune.Olives galore, black fruit, tannins, 2015 speaks here, but with floral notes as well. Much too young. still we drank it with pleasure. #BoutdeMonde#PB

Quite good. A combination of cherries and lighter berry fruit, with a hint of savoury meaty barnyard, good energy. Well balanced throughout, and tasty too.

Two Rhônes Diverged in a Wood.... ("Chateau La Grange" - La Grange IL): Double(ish) blind in Northern Rhône flight. Black plum, cherry and berry with olive and black pepper. Intense and rich fruit, but so much concentration with supporting structure just off center. Power of the vintage comes through brilliantly, but its dense, backward nature does as well. Needs 5+ years in the cellar.

Nose: The nose is sumptuous and deep with raspberries, red cherries, black olives, tapenade, tobacco, violets, licorice, roses, and some earth notes. The nose is still on the tight side, but there is a ton going on already with loads more to come as it develops.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity with chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure is very youthful while the feel is elegant and balanced with raspberries, red cherries, tapenade, tobacco, licorice, violets, and roses.
Overall: This is really young and will get even better with time. It shows off a ton already with a lot of red fruits and savory tones.

Promising but clearly needs more time. Muted smokey notes, medium-high tannins, not much finish at this point. It may improve with more air than I gave it, but it needs five years, at a minimum.

This is all about promise. It's hard to enjoy initially and needs a lot of air - it's packed with dense red fruit, black olives, and lots more savoury stemmy and faintly smoky/reductive notes, and has the same sense of tannic austerity as a young Levet. It's impressive now, but I'm glad I have a bunch of these buried.

Disappointing. Nothing wrong with it, but just rather polished and boring. We’ll see what some age does to it.

Full-bodied, structured to age with a meaty, earthy core of spicy, meaty, fresh, bright red fruits, give this time in the cellar for further aging.
