Purple color with a bouquet and flavor of raspberries, blueberries, and brambles. Good definition and intensity with a long finish. Balance quite good considering the alcohol. Very pleasant.

Could be the best Zin I ever had. Around the table 97-98-98-99. Big, full Zin flavors but smooth as glass. What a treat to drink! Too bad it was our last bottle :(

Nose of black cherry, black currants, and allspice, big body, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, needs 4/5 years to peak, much better the second night than the first night, just delicious, almost elegant for a Zinfandel, and a long, long, flavorful finish and aftertaste.

Awesome bottle. Drinking perfectly now. Great red fruit notes along with spice on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, yet well-balanced, and with a long finish.

16.5% abv. Medium ruby, expressive aromas. Black raspberry, black pepper, a little sage and a hint of mint. Extreme focus and concentration. High alcohol impedes just a bit. Probably best over the next ve years.

So if you decant this for a half a day it's drinkable now. It was better on the second day. But it's still infanticide. Give this one a few more years. Sweet black cherry mostly on the palate. Shows the heat from the alcohol.

Tasted blind. Medium light scarlet with pale pink rim Ripe blackberry fruit nose Super high alcohol(16.5%) (made me cough) Definitely big zin, but a bit chunky and disjointed. Lots of flavor, but quite far from "elegant" imho. Nice but not quite rich enough to cover the alcohol (which Jackass usually does)

Nose of black cherry, black berry, and black currants, lots of spring flowers and mocha, paired with a meaty pizza, big body, huge, mouth filling fruit, big body, needs 5 years to peak but why wait, it gets better and better while waiting in your glass, elegant style for a Zinfandel, and a long, long, rich finish, worth the $95 if you can find it.

Good, but did not blow me away like most bottles of Jackass. Alcohol level listed as 16.5. Some noticeable heat on palate; hopefully will resolve over time. Would wait a bit longer before opening next bottle. Try again in 2018.

At Martinelli this morning to pick up some Jackass Vineyard, nose of black cherry, black currants, mocha coffee, and floral notes, delivered on the palate what it showed on the nose, big body, needs 5 years to peak, reminds me of the 1996, really lovely to taste, tasted twice, can't wait for the next time, long, long, rich finish, at $95 its worth it, I bought 8 bottles.

Tried it again cooler (62 vs. 72) and it was better... but still not the killer of some previous vintages. OK, OK, hard to fault a 96 point score, but other years have been 98 :)

An excellent Jackass, but not yet up to previous vintages. Maybe I served it too warm, it was a bit jammy and soft. Still big and fruity and a treat to drink, just not yet the killer of previous years despite 90 minutes of air.

Intensely concentrated yet elegant. Almost like an amarone. Zinfandel raisins made into wine.

Yum!! Jam - blackberry and raspberry. Full color and body. Heat. Drank a bit early - but glad. Outstanding - will get even better with time.
