This bottle fell a victim to the Great Wine Cull raging in my Cellar. I was surprised how lively this wine still was. It was brownish on the edges and clear, but still structured and still had some freshness to it.

Still lively on the nose, with dusty red and currants and sour cherries, on top of some cellar dust, loam and pepper notes, a bit of soy sauce and pickle brine, but not too much. Fresh acid, light-dusty tannins on the palate but they’re still showing some structure. Cherries and currants, still going, but matched by notes of pickle, bell pepper and soy. Not incredibly deep or complex, but I like the flavor profile and the mouthfeel. Good length of the finish with notes of peat and tobacco. 70% Cab, 20% Merlot and 10% Cab Franc.

Very nice. It seems that my thoughts on this wine are quite different than others that have posted here. My wife and I both enjoyed this paired with the Beouf Borgenoine from Julia Childs "Mastering the art of French Cooking" I will be looking for more Meyney.

In Christimas night we tasted my unique botle of Chateaux Meney 1997. It was a regular experience. I had bought this botlle in a trip to France in 2001, when I tasted a 1995 vintage with an espectacular result. Doesn´t mind. I can offer a 78 points for 1997 vintage.

quite a disappointment given some of the other vintages from this château. hard, austere, lacks fruits, overly mineralic. i was not inspired enough to pay much attention.

The wine showed its age. Brownish on the edges and light in color. Slightly of, but still enjoyable to drink.
