Really nice as a middle weight wine, nice for those of us enjoying some prime rib/horseradish bites as apps. Good earthy tones to go with the cherry and fig notes

Very fruit-forward for an old world wine, a powerhouse. I don't think I would like it any better if I kept it for longer, so I'm happy with the choice of drinking it now. It was a little bit too chilled at first, but as it warmed in the glass the flavours did too. Dark fruits, tobacco, wet leaves, oak and herbs. Requires red meat or mature cheese to own up to it's power.

Full bodied with ripe cherry fruit that is surprisingly soft and forward. Very much on the sweet side, there is still a savoury edge to provide balance, and there also characters of liquorice and black chocolate. The use of oak is discernible but discrete and well-integrated, as is the alcohol, and the flavours pleasantly persist in the mouth. A fine example of the big beast. 90pts

Deep ruby color, aroma bomb of raspberry, cherry and blackberry, hints of garrigues and vanilla. Medium bodied, structured on the palate, balanced acidity and tannins. Classic Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe, one of my favorite!

Popped the cork three hours prior to Thanksgiving dinner. A bit disappointed with this bottle, did not overwhelm like a true Chateauneuf du Pape. Very tight and dense on turkey day. Saved some for day 2, opened up a bit more. Will try again.

Usually a blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre with various amounts of Counoise, Muscardin, Vaccarese and other allowable grape varieties. This is one of the oldest domaines in Chateauneuf du Pape. Nose takes you to Provence with garrigue and other dried herbal notes, licorice, and ripe red fruit. The palate is a little darker with some pepper and spice. There’s still some tannic structure and a little warmth without food, but you don’t notice it with food as it smoothens out with a bit of time and becomes quite elegant. There’s also good acidity despite it being warmer vintage. This is classic Chateauneuf du Pape for me.

Ripe and juicy CndP, dark and red berries in a good mix, medium+ bodied, with lots of warm fruit, but no disturbing alcohol. Good now but will last many years.

A fine, warm, quite big wine, with plenty of heft but also elegant. It is drinking well now, but is still a little closed. Keep: it will develop more complexity over the next four or five years, maybe more.

Nice dark strawberry-ruby colour. On the nose, aromas of red and dark fruit. Also to be found, herbs (garrigue) and leather. With a lot more air, raw meat aromas (from Syrah) appear. On the palate, the attack is frank, with lots of tannin, acidity and the aromas found on the nose. A good length is to be found. This was more balanced on day three indicating that this 2015 needs a few more years. If I had more of this, I would keep it for another 4-5 years. Of the 4 Châteauneuf I've tasted from 2015, Mont-Redon is the most in need of aging, and in the upper middle of the pack. If I wasn't stocking up on 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from specific producers, I'd likely get more of this. 90-91

Medium ruby colour turning garnet. Big pronounced nose of blackcurrant and cooked plum. Savoury notes of leather and animal/meatiness. Dried fruit and spices of cinnamon, toast and cedar. Medium acidity, medium to high tannin and full bodied. More blackcurrant and ripe cooked plum on palate with leather and spice. Long finish and high complexity.

If you ever studied wine via a wine school like for example the WSET, you probably remember that Grenache is a grape variety that is used to add sumptuous fruity juiciness to the blend. However, in real life you find a lot of examples that acidic, coarse and lean at best. Sad but true, but not in the case of 2015 Chateau Mont-Redon. This is a concentrated yet elegant wine full of liqueur like red raspberry, strawberry, milk chocolate, caramel, roasted meats and hints of floral. Black fruits along with black pepper from Syrah add freshness and complexity. However, on the palate this is thick, motor oil like viscous, with a slight burning effect from alcohol. This is the wine to drink in the cold winter nights with a good chunk of fat prime beef steak. If you prefer elegant, ethereal wines this bottle might not be your thing, but if you enjoy full-bodied, succulent, rich wines with some sort of elegance present this is just what the doctor ordered.

2015 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape is lights out. A medley of ripe red and black fruit, baking spice, lavender and forest floor makes for a beautiful and pronounced bouquet that shifts with air. There is spectacular concentration of flavor and richness, yet the wine in no way feels overdone and maintains impeccable balance. The mid-palate depth is impressive, and the wine concludes in an ultra-long finish composed of sweet fruit and spice. So good now, but give this beauty a year or two before popping the cork and enjoy over the next 15 years.

Wonderfully expressive nose of violets, lavender, raspberry, plum and licorice. It is beautifully balanced with highly perfumed fruits that envelop the mouth. It has a velvety texture and builds through the palate, fanning out on the long, fresh finish.

Somewhat shy nose offers glimpses of blackberry, garrigue, pepper, dark fruit and spice, all of which comes through without effort on the complex palate that is supported by fresh acidity. Tannins are refined and polished. Long, peppery finish.

Vinosphere (Town Hall, Sydney): Muted red berry fruit , sweet spice, slight oak. Savoury tight and rich with polished oak on the palate. The tannins are tight but the fruit is present. Time for me.
