Cherry, tobacco, leather, vanilla, some chocolate after a while, strong oak presence. Very enjoyable at first, became muted after a couple hours and then reopened later. Good Rioja, happy to have tried it but I will not be buying it again

Today, better than ever. Raspberry, plum and red currant, plus cigar box and spice. Good concentration, very elegant and polished style. Perfectly balanced. Definitely fruit-dominated. Long and elegant finish. What a great value!

A terrific value. Beautiful Tempranillo nose, raspberry, plum and red currant, plus cigar box and spice. Good concentration, very elegant and polished style. Perfectly balanced. Definitely fruit-dominated, not the typical, overly woodsy Gran Reserva. Long and elegant finish. Now at the beginning of a long drinking window.

This is good stuff, very well-rounded and plump, the fruit is ripe but not overripe, plenty of plums and sort of dusty raspberry, with none of the spicy oaky flavours I anticipated. Tastes like it came from a much cooler climate. Excellent value.

Medium weight. Tasted mellow light-hearted plum. Very balanced. Drinking well now, but there are enough tannins for the bottle to last for a while in the cellar.
Bodegas Riojanas Rioja Monte Real Gran Reserva tasting (Boqueria Penn Quarter, Washington D.C.): Medium expressive nose displaying warm red fruit, cherry, strawberry, also cassis, a hint of American oak, caramel, sautéed mushroom, leather and limestone. Very good concentration, nicely layered red fruit, warm and round, good acidity and mineral, and a medium to long sweet red fruit and mushroom driven finish. Although promising, this is drinking nicely.

Erstes Mundgefühl ist heftig! Starke Tannine aber sehr gut eingebunden machen den Wein zu etwas besonderem. Sehr viel Körper aber auch gute Fruchtnoten machen den Wein zu einem Erlebnis!

Deep garnet color, generous and ready immediately upon opening with traditional flavors and fairly relaxed tannins.
