Served alongside Le Moine's '05 and '11, and all suffer from the same heavy oak treatment in my opinion. That said, this one was the best of the bunch, with stone fruit that wasn't too crazy-ripe, and some interesting spice too.

Meursault les Perrières Dinner, Top Producers (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Tasted in 2004 horizontal. Ripe stone fruit with spice and white pepper. Good concentration with an intriguing combination of ripe and less ripe fruit. Very good length. My favorite of the flight. Better than another bottle from the same case opened last year. Still best to enjoy over then next few years.

Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia): In a flight of 04/06/08. The most advanced of the three wines by a margin. Shows mature apple and nutty notes. Holding on just fine, but on the back nine. I think I would have preferred this a few years ago.

Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia - Chicago IL): In 04/06/08 flight. Much better than another bottle from a few months back (but this was from my cellar, the previous bottle was not). Still fully mature with plenty of apple, baked apple and earth. At its peak, maybe the 10th or 11th hole. Will hold well if well stored.

Twelfth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Late night, brief note. I like the nutty and ripe orchard fruit, but found it slightly more advanced than I'd want at this age. Moderate length. Good, but drink up if this bottle is representative.

Nose and palate of burnt popcorn, hazelnuts, lemon, honey and a note of bleach on the finish. Nice texture thought I expected a lot more from this wine.

A very intriguing shade of gold on this wine, almost amber colored, similar to the color found on wines that are struck by botrytis. A very perfumed wine, with intense gripping aromas showing some oxidation, with aromas of gun powder, smoke, apples, grapefruits, lemon oil, white flowers, honey, roasted almonds, nutmeg, candied ginger, white pepper, and sun baked stones. On the palate the wine is thick, luscious with a oily texture showing an exotic note of tropical fruits on the attack such as mango, papaya, guava, pineapple, with hints of apricots, and honey. The mid-palate shows mouth searing acidity which couples with the mineral flavors, lemon juice, orange rind, and roasted almonds. The acidity carries on into the finish where more exotic flavors arise such as clarified butter, ginger, white pepper, licorice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. An interesting mix of concentrated exotic flavors, viscous texture, refreshing acidity, and intense minerality on this mid to full bodied white.

Lucien Le Moine Burgundy tasting with Mounir Saouma (Beltramo's in Menlo Park, California): Rich, spicy, earthy, mineral nose; rich, elegant, mineral and tangy citrus palate with depth; medium-plus finish
