富麗華午餐 (Chicago, IL): #11-17. Served double blind; very easy to get to German riesling, and the lack of the streak of green apple acidity on the palate made me think Nahe. It wasn't much further a stretch to guess Dönnhoff. Slightly peachy, the fruit profile seems to indeed emphasize stone fruits. A slight bit of mineral chew on the back end, and a generally light, weightless texture on the palate. Tasty as always.

Pineapple, citrus, apple, and some peach and exotic fruit on the nose. The medium-sweet palate continues with juicy green apple, some slight creaminess and decent mineral broadband acidity. Long finish with apple and citrus, tapering towards stoniness. Everything is in its place, and the package is well in balance. Works also really well with spicier food. The enjoyability factor is high in this, so while it might still develop further with age, it's hard to resist it now.

Medium yellow. Lime and herbal aromas. Medium weight, a bit of spritziness. Rather easy, open style with moderate residual sugar and a touch of honey, mix of stone fruit and orange, average acidity, intensity, and soil. Pleasant but not one for the ages.

A pale crystalline green colour this wine has a delicious nose of lime, white nectarine, pineapple and quince with touches of white flowers. The palate is rich yet zesty and complex in its fruit expression with plenty of interest and some added floral characters giving way to a moderately intense finish.

We had a 2016 Hermansholle and Brucke side by side. Both excellent, both same level in my opinion, but mayibe I'd give the nod to the Hermansholle as it had more floral aromatics, maybe slightly more complexity, as opposed to more power and richness but less complex Brucke. Both still very young obviously. Would love to taste in 10+ years. EWG at Kapoor's Akbar

Germany flights... (La cave du Théâtre Clermont Ferrand France): Lemon, crisp, flowery, « french » riesling style nose, with hints of lime lemon and nice tart candy touch, on the palate it is so smooth with great acid level, tasty fruits, super balanced as the sweetness is very much there but never gets heavy or so... Quite a stunner that wine, 93 ???

Informal note from tasting in social setting: strong minerality and good salinity with stronger, crunchy acidity; however, not much fruit and med- sweetness, if that. Very good / great wine, but I imagine it'll get even better in time.

While not the sharpest expression of Riesling it is genuinely lovely drinking now, yet it will evolve further over some years.

At a nice stage at this point - it can either be drunk now or cellared for 5+ years. Excellent acidity to balance the residual sugar. Precision and elegance, but not enough complexity to deserve a higher grade. 92-93pts.

Pale color with a bit of spritz. Lime and tangerine. Light, in fact seems delicate for this cru, but piquant, spicy, off dry wine with very good intensity and a fair amount of stone. Certainly not too austere to drink with some pleasure now.

PNP. cork perfect. color straw. tasted first at cellar temp. nose has candied citrus and pineapple with a pine note in background. swishing shows RS with creamy acid backbone that coats the cheeks and tongue. sipping shows a levity despite this wines intensity. long long finish that is very pleasing. this is dynamite.

A Visit with Helmut Dönnhoff (Oberhausen, Germany): Mineral and sweat on the nose. Limes. Citrus blossoms. Balanced and very compelling belying an apparent simplicity. A little sweat on the finish. Tough read for me. Certainly very good, but I couldn’t read this wine well. On me, not it.

The German Crush Tour; 10/8/2017-10/16/2017: Monopole, Grey slate covered with loam. Floral with candied fruit and ripe apricots, rich, powerful spatlese that is heavy with autumnal orchard fruit. The minerality is currently hiding - it will need time to show.

Very well balanced and integrated - generous, ripe start with delicious fruit notes. Lots of acidity kicking in then, fine mineral backbone, lovely length. Super finish - excellent! 93-94

Very herbal. Nice balance of sugar and acid. Good, but not nearly as exciting as the 16 hermannshohle was a few months ago.

quick note Extremely balanced, smooth, with an almost creamy sensation to go along with crisp acidity and typical Brucke aromatics and flavors.
